Everything I read says you’re supposed to let your cat “win” your play sessions or they get frustrated, but when I do that he walks away and starts yelling at me until we play again so I’m not entirely sure if advice is bad or cat is weird.

iOS (and recently Android) has a feature called “motion sickness dots” where it renders a bunch of dots on the screen and uses the gyroscope to animate them when they detect acceleration (ie: if you’re turning left, they’ll slide across the screen, versus sliding down the screen if moving forward)

Went back and finished Unicorn Overlord. Gorgeous game, enjoyed the og Ogre Battle style gameplay, but even Tactician was pretty easy, I think I should’ve cranked the difficulty to that last step. Story was serviceable. Absolutely nutty number of characters, up there with Fire Emblem or Suikoden.

Have to say, I much prefer getting announcements to games that will be out in 3-4 months rather than 3-4 years. Who knows if the game will even exist in 3-4 years or if it’ll have to pivot, get cancelled, or get delayed?

I’ll be honest, I’m not sure how humans are supposed to code review 100+ files of AI code output with any sort of reasonable input. Let alone 2 such changelists in 2 days. If it were a human I’d tell them to go break up the CLs into smaller parts, but the answer I got was “can’t, AI made it”

My cat is capable of performing about 13 tricks on command and crushes every feeder puzzle he runs into, but somehow a half-closed bedroom door was too much for his cat-mind and triggered a full screaming meltdown. Cats. Wtf.

OEM software should be classified as malware. Anything related to sound on my new PC (settings window, trying to join a meeting, even just adjusting volume) would hang for 30-60 seconds on every interaction until I fully removed everything ASUS and AMD from my installed software.

As much fun as “load bearing code, don’t delete, we don’t know why” stories are, it doesn’t actually speak very well to either your programmers or the organization’s approach to tech debt. You should know why things work or don’t work, or be able to learn why.

in video games the word "survival" means clearcutting a forest to build a fortress and "cozy" means starting a small business so you can eventually earn enough money to clearcut a forest and build a fortress

My cat Peter and I do training twice a day with his dental treats and he *lives* for it, favourite parts of his day. We’re up to 11 tricks: * Sit * Stand * Lay down * Paw/Left Paw * Spin/Turn (different directions) * Touch (Boop) * Step * Up/Down (to or from a surface) Trying for high five next.

Thiiiiiiis so much this. Every time you get to near shipping and there’s a bunch of stuff that just isn’t hitting the quality bar you want to hit that wasn’t originally accounted for. This isn’t bad unto itself; you just need to be realistic about giving yourself time to iterate.

1bn DAU for “Xbox” only makes sense if they actually finally execute on their whole “everything is an Xbox” scheme from a few years ago and count Windows machines.
