I like thinking about Victorian care, disability, feminism, and also cooking (not necessarily Victorian).

Inside the humanities we’re slowly losing our minds as we shout this til we’re hoarse—of course education in the name of ROI is an ideological project! Of course, treating knowledge as a content strategy results in bullshit! Still bracing to read this eloquent call to close the business schools

National Endowment for the Humanities
Funding In Historic Case
This afternoon, May 7, 2026, US District Judge Colleen McMahon ruled that the mass termination by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) of more than 1,400 grants to support scholars, research institutions, and humanities organizations was "unlawful,
unconstitutional, ultra vires, and without legal effect."

“I have a PhD in atmospheric physics. I spent a decade measuring greenhouse gases from satellites. The thing that made me good at it was reading poetry. It trained me to notice what was not being said in a dataset. Every critical decision I made as a scientist was interpretation, not computation.”

The Humanities Are the Moat

Twenty years of defunding the disciplines that teach judgement. Now we are surprised nobody can tell when AI is wrong.
