I sing in Too Much Joy and Wonderlick and work in tech (Rhapsody/Google Play/Freeform/Zedge). I tend to post about music, movies, and the death throes of democracy.
Many thanks to Punk News for premiering the latest Wonderlick video, "Come Get on My Cloud." Check out how we sound with banjos and fiddles!

This means that for at least two years after the Edsel came out, you had reasonably good odds of seeing someone driving around in one, and laugh at them.
Is it wrong that I'm smiling? There's so little to smile about these days.
I know I've bitched about this before, but holy hell the grammar suggestions Gmail makes just keep getting worse and worse. It appears to hate any sense of individual voice, and wants everyone to write as blandly in corporate-speak as possible.
It's pretty inspiring to see what can happen when you put people actually interested in making people's lives better in government. From big things to little things, Mamdani seems so happy when he makes other people happy. Breaks my brain to see people pretending he's some kind of threat.
This summer, we kept the lights on all night, every night, at five soccer fields across New York City. This was the scene at Calvert Vaux Park in Gravesend, Brooklyn Tuesday night.
More proof, as if any were really needed, that most people invoking "open debate" when they say they're for "free speech" are really just "anti-social-consequences-for-my-particular-speech." I loathe hypocrites.
Wrote a post about JK Rowling threatening to sue Amnesty International for expressing their opinion of an org she founded.
I'm Dante Soda! Definitely gonna start using that as an alias.
your baseball pitcher name is your grandfather’s first name and the last thing you bought i’ll go first mine’s Dominic Sandals
Holy wow The Invite is the funniest film I seen in YEARS. It's practically perfect.
"Less homicidal" is a wild thing to say. Does that mean Johnny Cash DID shoot a man, but it wasn't just to watch him die? Or that he never shot anybody, but really did want to watch them die?
If you've got the Criterion Channel, "Two Minutes Late" is the best old noir I've seen in a loonnng time. And it's from Denmark, so even though it was olden times, not EVERYTHING had to be subtext!

No one else was even wearing a cape in Cape Town and now I feel stupid.
That Too Much Joy app is now available for iPhones. You can make robot Tim tell any lie you want him to, among other things.

Never sure if I should admire or be horrified by the folks drinking cocktails at the airport bar at 6am.
I built an app! It lets you insert your own lie during the false stop in "That's a Lie," or your own rant into "Theme Song." If you know what either of those tunes are, you might like this: joyride-contest.web.app

I have been entrusted with the disposal of a dead friend's CD collection. I am communing with said friend by listening to albums of his I normally wouldn't before selling them all to Amoeba. Which is how I came to play Bitches Brew right after In the Court of the Crimson King. Highly recommended.
So I tried Spotify's DJ feature while I cooked a complicated dinner that literally left me no time to choose a specific artist, album or playlist. I've used it before and found it ok, not great. But, apparently because I spent the last few weeks exploring Mott the Hoople's catalog, it super sucked!
This replacement-level bar band in Grover Beach had at least one genius idea.
I don't know when or why GMail updated its grammar checker, but every email I compose now winds up full of underlined bits suggesting I could craft my sentences more perfectly. Needless to say, they are very wrong.
I can't decide if the fact that Mott the Hoople have one album titled "Mott the Hoople," another titled "Mott," and a third titled "The Hoople" is clever or stupid. It really IS a fine line.
I believe this extends to anyone who thinks (or posts), "Too bad he missed." A liberal friend said that to me after Reagan's attempted assassination, and I was horrified. But I've had that same thought after both of Trump's, as have many others. My morals haven't changed. The situation has.
This guy does not have the profile of a mass shooter and he knows what he’s forgoing. I worry that we’ll see more of this because Congress and SCOTUS refuse to constrain Trump and people who would not otherwise be radicalized are feeling a kind of moral injury by extension
I love everything about Love on the Spectrum except how often and how much my wife laughs whenever one one of the characters has the same likes, dislikes or hobbies as I do. She literally falls off the couch sometimes, she’s laughing so hard.
Was just remembering that brief period of time when double LPs came with sides 1 and 4 on one slab of vinyl, and sides 2 on the other, and turntables let you stack them, so you only had to get up to turn them over once instead of twice. That was kind of crazy.
I never paid too much attention to Mott the Hoople or Ian Hunter's solo career, but the Rubinoos covered Mott's "I Wish I was Your Mother" the other night, and that's sent me down a very enjoyable rabbit hole. I mean, just listen to this!
