Big backline order! Finished checking and tuning one of the drum kits for the Richmond Jazz Fest. I’m scared to see how many keyboards have been ordered. Luckily that’s not my department lol. Jazz/R&B festivals usually have 2-6 keyboards depending on the artist/band rider and stage plot

PROVIDING BACKLINE FOR OTAKON! I wish more medium/big name furcons would rent backline from professional backline companies instead of hoping someone would volunteer their gear. it would encourage more live music that way. I’m gonna make a google doc of US cons and nearest backline companies.

There should be more music you can social dance to at cons (pending space). The electroswing & reggaeton/Latin music sets at my local con last year were good opportunities to do that. And if there ain’t already panels teaching basics, there should be some.

It’s one thing to “be the change you want” but you also have to make sure to know how to move for the change to happen. If the environment doesn’t want to provide space for you…it might require some financial planning on your part. If you aint got it,it might be time to leave it alone for now
