A reminder that if the government can send migrants to a prison camp without any due process, it can send U.S. citizens there, too. I know because this happened to me and my family in 1942.
If you're boycotting the US so that the American people suffer, rather than to pressure the government and large corporations into changing the political path we're on, you're doing sadism, not activism.
International boycotts of US goods doesn't mean individual Americans should stop trying to make ends meet actually.
But you *are* deliberately trying to mitigate the effects of the boycott, thereby reducing its effectiveness.
the Dems are all like "what are we supposed to do????" and I think the wildly positive reaction to Cory Booker right now should send the signal loud and clear "literally fucking anything, just do SOMETHING instead of sitting there"
"RUGGED INDIVIDUALISM DIDN'T BEAT THE NAZIS" Sen Corey Booker And it won't do it this time, either
IF YOU'RE IN LINE TO PISS ON STROM THURMOND'S GRAVE, STAY IN LINE
No, Democrats, these little auction signs aren't it. You're acting like Wes Anderson characters who don't understand that they're in a Tarantino movie.
The thing that everyone thinks is nuts, but I absolutely think would work: a presentation that looked like an Apple keynote product launch, but for all the cool shit that the government makes for people. Cancer treatments, national parks, space discoveries, free tax filing, cool new airports.
If you were in Congress, what would you do for the State of the Union? What do you think Dems should do?
"Together is the best way through. It always had been. When we build systems that include more people we do better. When we build systems that exclude more people we do worse, and it's pretty much that simple." @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social on #p4a2025 💚💜
THREAD Weird and wrong beliefs that humanity held onto for way longer than we should have. These days we enlightened denizens look back on those simpletons and giggling fools of old and tut-tut at their hilarious beliefs. *Record Scratch* Here's some stuff we got wrong until recently. 1/19
Think about what daily, hourly chaos does to the ability to make *any* kind of plan for the future, shrinking time horizons that have already been shortened by existing marginalizations The people most affected by that chaos, are the ones who are already trapped in an eternal present.
I am holding on tightly to these words because this week has felt like a year. The moment demands the wisdom of ancestors.
Me sitting at a desk instead of on a couch for the first time in months yesterday.
Not sure I’m cut out for this.
I like to sew. The first step is cutting out the pieces of fabric. Alone, each one is just a useless scrap. But when stitched together, they create something really cool, or helpful, or beautiful, or all of the above. All of us are “cut out” for it…But we can only do it together.
Not sure I’m cut out for this.
My eight year old suggests that we just have TikTok every other day and, honestly, yes.
Looking to the future, the greatest challenge America faces is the lawlessness and recklessness of the new executive branch and the total fealty the president commands in the Republican party. Seems to me there ought not be any role for bipartisanship in what’s coming. bsky.app/profile/schu...
It is time to look to the future. The challenges that face America are many and great. The Senate must respond with resolve, bipartisanship, and fidelity to the working and middle class of this country.
What top Democrats have spent the last eight years trying to restore can't be restored. It's been broken irreparably, and it's been repudiated by voters. What progressives—leftists, liberals, Democrats, whoever—need to do now is articulate a vision of the next thing, and start making it real.
Ain’t a single one of you lived under a full fascist state & you don’t know how you’re going to respond anymore than anyone else will. & if you’re looking for a list of heroes who operated in full fascist states in modern history, the list is gonna be woefully short. Start by supporting each other..
When a parent denies medical care to a child they are arrested for child abuse. When your insurance company does it their stock rises and the rich get richer.
Buying art from folks I follow (and in some cases are now friends with) on Instagram is my favourite thing to do. My second favourite thing is giving them detailed (and sometimes slightly unhinged) compliments in the comments of their posts.
a lot of people are saying to make weirder art right now, and i totally get it, totally am for it if that's what you feel your heart wants!! but also there's a part of me that thinks what we should actually do is spend time figuring out what our heart wants, weird or not
Hard to overstate just how much of the tech industry’s horrifically dystopian present grew right out of its transparently misogynistic past
Are your friends in LA exhibiting a completely normal trauma response? Comfort them in their time of need by telling them they've been drugged and/or have fallen victim to space lasers
Calling the fire department woke in the middle of a massive wildfire is I guess the logical endpoint of gamergate
