why are people so obsessed with vpns as the single default censorship circumvention measure. this shit is bypassable with a ublock filter don't go paying some other random company just so they mitm your social media
github.com/bluesky-social… added a new field to ipcc so you need another ublock filter `||bsky.app/ipcc$replace=/(?<="countryCode":").+?(?=")/US/` `||bsky.app/ipcc$replace=/(?<="isAgeRestrictedGeo":").+?(?=")/false/`
yes, the censorship resistance relies on you making the bare minimum of effort to use the infra that does not censor
you cannot derive conclusions on any piece of action by "Bluesky" before knowing where it is enforced it could be any combination of the bsky.app, api.bsky.app, the bsky.network relay, the bsky.network PDSes, or bluesky-social/pds and you especially should not *doom* before knowing which it is
perhaps if you think "everyone else is just an extremist" or "politics just divides people" consider instead that it might be that your positions are so extreme and make you so unlikable that people want to keep you as divided as they can from them
blockenheimer domain expires in a month i might just let it expire and finally kill it for real
the fact one can run a ~full bluesky appview, becoming entirely independant from bluesky the company, for a fraction of what the big mastodon instances pay for hosting seems notable
it's only a bluesky appview if it comes from the Bluesky PBC, otherwise it's just sparkling xrpc
appviewappviewappview - after 6 months, I'm running what is, afaik, the first full-network bluesky appview - you can use it at zeppelin.social, query it at bsky.zeppelin.social, read about it at whtwnd.com/futur.blue/3..., & help me keep it up for more than a few weeks at github.com/sponsors/fut...
in and out, quick appview adventure | futur
it's an appview, michael, how long could it take? tl;dr I'm running what is, to my knowledge, the first instance of the Bluesky AppView containing all\* data in the history of the network This took...

Someone just told me that Widevine DRM acknowledges the existence of DeCENC in their API responses. Neat! Presumably some of their CDMs ship mitigations now. I haven't looked.

is there anyone as obsessed with searchability as hentai readers. is there a single website with namespaced tagging of content other than e-hentai
it's still so weird to me that RED is in all other aspects the better music tracker yet OPS is the one of the two that sanely handles overloaded artist names like what is this joke
consuming all the "here's how to tell writing is ai" slop and intentionally implementing all their solutions. that writing style was the result of rlhf, after all, it's optimized for clarity and agreeability!
Uuuuh, using the news app as cover for an anonymous tip line makes so much sense!
Congratulations @lambda.bsky.social! Today @theguardian.com is launching a new way for whistleblowers to anonymously contact journalists, based on years-long research by Daniel and other colleagues. www.theguardian.com/gnm-press-of...
if you pirate your media you're never gonna have to feel bad that you supported someone that turned out to be evil
did:fast ≈ authorities A each keep weights W: A↦0..1 state S: addr↦op pending P: addr↦nil|op you can ask A get(a) → S[a] submit(a,op) { P[a] = op } → sign(A, op) if op.prev=H(S[a]) ∧ ¬P[a] finalize(a,op,{cert}) { S,P [a] = op,nil } if op.prev=H(S[a]) ∧ (2/3)>ΣW[cert.A] where cert: sig(op)
there are too many things that make atproto interesting for any statement that atproto is an iteration on some single protocol to be truthful
the more time goes on the more bored i get of discourse it's fun once in a while but i don't know how yall have the mental stamina to continue doing this shit all day all year
also cursed and fucked is the flattening out of "material analysis" to the point where people exercise no agency in embracing fascism. more or less "they just happen to face that special blend of circumstances that makes u a fascist, they can't help it, it could have happened to anyone"
uploading on trackers is only scary for like, your first 100 uploads
oh fun. posts that quote accounts you've muted don't usually show up on your timeline... until the quote gets detached, at which point you get the worst possible combination: contextless discourse you dislike involving you dislike
the demotion of service proxying in favor of app-first optimistic writes to make writing an atproto app easier feels like ulysses going "dude cut just a couple of the coils of rope bro itll make it easier for me to hear the song if i can move a bit"
to reiterate on this, an AppView server should NOT be interposed between the user and the PDS: the client and PDS are in the user sphere of trust, but the service is adversarial. the PDS is the most important write sink and should be primary, since an app can't be trusted to not shut off PDS writes
