Most of our date nights, for the more than 20 years that we have been together, have been dinner followed by going to the bookstore for a coffee and browsing and buying. In that time, I have seen the craft section get smaller and smaller.

Two stacks of bookshelves for crafts and hobbies books at my local Barnes and Noble.

Now you may be thinking to yourself, "Hmm. I thought he might be further along on that hat." And you would be right. I took this to knit night the other week and pulled it out to work on it without paying attention to where each yarn was. That was a mistake.

A brioche hat in progress with a light blue foreground color and a dark blue background color.

And speaking of fiber--I've been dyeing a lot of new fiber to take with me to my pop up event at Spun Ann Arbor this coming weekend. I'll be there Saturday and Sunday. Hope to see you there! If you can't make it to the event, I do have some fiber that I quietly put into the shop last week. 🧶🧶🧶

A braid of hand dyed spinning fiber coiled into a circle. The colors are bright violet, chartreuse, pink and rust. A hand dyed braid of spinning fiber coiled into a circle. The colors are gray, green, gold, pink, periwinkle.

One of the names that I considered for this pattern was Crossfade, but decided against it because I thought it implied too much about the color. That said, if you want to do a fade for My Ever Changing Moods, but not sure how to go about it, here is what I did. #knitting

The hat sat still for a couple days while I decided whether to make it a bit longer than the original before going into the ribbing. I decided to go a half of a repeat more because I know the person that I am making this for likes his ears completely covered. 🧶

Brioche hat on knitting needles. Foreground color is a camel color and the background is green.

Decided to reknit the brioche hat that I did over a year ago, making some changes to it so I can more easily get a range of sizes. Also, I am trying it from the top down. (I started it on dpns.) Would you go for a top down hat pattern? Or are you strictly brim up? (Or are you Musselburgh?)🧶

Hi! I'm puttering around here trying to get things back in order after MDSW, but I did manage to get Murmuration and Dolly's Coat of Many Colors pre-order listings in the shop for those who couldn't make it to MDSW or Nash Yarn Fest. 🧶🧶🧶

Murmuration colorway is a rich jewel toned colorway of teals, turquoise, green, bits of rose and purple. Dolly's Coat of Many Colors is a combination of raspberry with gold, orange, blue, green.
