While writing up other patterns, I am playing around with new yarn to see how the colors play together. The yarn is @knitterkim.bsky.social 's Cronut Sport in the colorways Pink Oyster and Plum. I have a bunch of different stitches to try out. #knitting #kimdyesyarn #cronutsport
Most of our date nights, for the more than 20 years that we have been together, have been dinner followed by going to the bookstore for a coffee and browsing and buying. In that time, I have seen the craft section get smaller and smaller.
And while I wait for the hat to dry, it's time to start writing up the pattern and figure out a name that a bunch of other patterns don't already have. #knitting #magpiefibers #quartetfingering #textillianstudios #briocheknitting
Now you may be thinking to yourself, "Hmm. I thought he might be further along on that hat." And you would be right. I took this to knit night the other week and pulled it out to work on it without paying attention to where each yarn was. That was a mistake.
It’s already been a delightful day here at Spun in Ann Arbor! I was able to spend some time gabbing with THEE Jillian Moreno which is always a treat. 🧶🧶🧶
So the hat dried just in time for me to give it to my husband as part of his birthday gift. As for the bind off, I am okay with it. I probably won't do it that way again, but I am not going to rip it out and try a different method. #knitting
And speaking of fiber--I've been dyeing a lot of new fiber to take with me to my pop up event at Spun Ann Arbor this coming weekend. I'll be there Saturday and Sunday. Hope to see you there! If you can't make it to the event, I do have some fiber that I quietly put into the shop last week. 🧶🧶🧶
One of the names that I considered for this pattern was Crossfade, but decided against it because I thought it implied too much about the color. That said, if you want to do a fade for My Ever Changing Moods, but not sure how to go about it, here is what I did. #knitting
My Ever Changing Moods Shawl is partly based on how I am tend to transition from one mood to another and how those moods blend into one another. You might say I am kind of a slow boil. This shawl is the embodiment of that idea (and a few others). #knitting #intothewhirled
My Ever Changing Moods Shawl is live! This shawl began life at Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival. I saw all of the new colorways that Into the Whirled had created, and I wanted to design something that would blend some of them together. #knitting
The top down version of the hat came off the needles on Monday. I used Jeny's stretchy bind off, and I am not sure how I feel about it. I see how I like it after giving it a soak. #knitting #magpiefibers #quartetfingering
The hat sat still for a couple days while I decided whether to make it a bit longer than the original before going into the ribbing. I decided to go a half of a repeat more because I know the person that I am making this for likes his ears completely covered. 🧶
Look at me! Spinning again! I decided that I should get back to spinning. I always found spinning a good way to relax (at least when everything is working correctly.) #spinning #lendrumsaxony
Decided to reknit the brioche hat that I did over a year ago, making some changes to it so I can more easily get a range of sizes. Also, I am trying it from the top down. (I started it on dpns.) Would you go for a top down hat pattern? Or are you strictly brim up? (Or are you Musselburgh?)🧶
So, the first person that I came out to was my friend from college, Tonya. We met in bowling class, and she got me to join the gospel choir because they needed a bass. #comingout #pride
This project came together rather quickly. I used a skein of Fiber Optic Yarns' Kashmir in the colorway Peace and leftovers from my June 2024 release of the Wavelength Wrap (second photo), which uses the Over the Rainbow Infinity Fade. 🧶 #fiberopticyarns #satisfyingstripesshawl #wavelengthwrap
I usually don't block shawls on a weeknight because I am usually not sure how long it will take. But this is the second of this shawl and it only took about 20 minutes to pin out. #knitting #fiberopticyarns #kashmir #textillianstudios #satisfyingstripesshawl
I've scheduled some events for the next little bit. I hope to see some of you in Pittsburgh, Ann Arbor & Minneapolis! 🧶🧶🧶
Not in public, but I am knitting (in the AC!) #knitting #fiberopticyarns #kashmir #textillianstudios #satisfyingstripesshawl
Decided to block with the right side facing the mat so that I could adjust the woven in ends before it dries. We shall see if that was the right decision. #knitting #woolandvinyl #classicrocksock #textillianstudios #satisfyingstripesshawl
New project, same as the old project. I am doing the same simple, striped shawl that just came off the needles; but this time using Fiber Optic Yarns' Kashmir in Peace and remnants of the Over the Rainbow Infinity Fade as the stripes. #knitting
Imagine being so unable to love your child that you set fire to the whole damn world instead.
Look at what came off the needles last night! Should I write it up? #knitting #woolandvinyl #classicrocksock #garterstitch #textillianstudios
Starting to get the photos together. Not the photos that I thought that I was going to get, but photos nonetheless. #knitting #intothewhirled #pakokkusock #textillianstudios #myeverchangingmoodsshawl
Hi! I'm puttering around here trying to get things back in order after MDSW, but I did manage to get Murmuration and Dolly's Coat of Many Colors pre-order listings in the shop for those who couldn't make it to MDSW or Nash Yarn Fest. 🧶🧶🧶
