Spewing hate makes money. It doesn't make you loved or respected, and nor does it add to the sum of human happiness. But it can make you hard cash and you can pop the kids through private school and drive an expensive car and live in a nice house. And frankly fuck anyone who is so shallow.

Elon Musk is planning to spend at least $100 million to help Republicans in this year’s midterms. That’s just 0.014 percent of his current $702 billion net worth. Oligarchs can rig the system at the expense of everyone else, and only spend pennies doing so. We must get Big Money out of politics.
Laughable. Nobody calls ev1 they disagree with "Far-Right". I call people far-right because their fantasy policy wishlist is almost indistinguishable from the National Front manifestos of the 80s. I'm not diverting away from anything. I'm saying it plainly. There is no 'debate' to any of it.
I can’t believe that Reform UK turned out to be financed by a bunch of money laundering fronts for Russia. It’s just so unexpected.
From populists on the right, but also from establishment figures desperate to bury their responsibility, there's an ongoing push to bury the harms of COVID. Long COVID alone costs 7M life-years (QALYs) and on the order of a trillion dollars a year in the OECD. www.oecd-ilibrary.org/social-issue...

Another effect of the normalization of right-wing threats and violence. WHY are Twitter, Musk, etc allowed to push threatening, racist, violence-provoking propaganda? The lack of official response normalizes it. The govt still posts there as if it's OK! www.theguardian.com/media/2026/j...

A very good point as usual from @jamesbowes01.bsky.social The main objective of Mahmood's proposals was always to kick out care workers (as she has more or less said). That was always an economically, politically and morally bankrupt policy. Without it, the whole package falls apart.
Just exempting care workers would be ridiculous. Basically it would be a case of designing a policy to kick out care workers, panicking when you realise how stupid an idea that is, and then kicking out a load of engineers, scientists etc out of sheer stubbornness.
