BROWDER: Trump’s policies towards Putin don’t make sense and not in America’s national interest. Why is Trump so apprehensive about holding Putin to account? Who knows what deal he has with Putin. There’s a pattern of foreign governments enriching Trump or people close to him.

Decades of complacancy have left Europe vulnerable. "Once in a century" weather events - droughts, heatwaves, floods - have become normal, and our infrastructure isn't ready for it. Yet many political leaders across Europe want to weaken and delay measures to end dependence on fosssil fuels. 🧵1/n
Russia's attack on Kyiv, killing at least 17, is a stark reminder of European failure. We need large long-term orders for SAMP/T NG and Aster interceptors for Ukraine. We need to pressure South Korea to sell air defense. We also need to transfer more of our systems
Russia's murder of Ukrainian civilians is nothing new, but last night's deadly attack on Kyiv showed how vulnerable Europe's dependence on the US for key defence capabilities makes us. UK, EU, and Ukraine are working together to develop alternatives to the scarce Patriot missiles. Invest more!
⚡️Update: At least 17 killed, 44 injured after massive Russian missile, drone attack on Kyiv region. Search and rescue operations remain underway after Russia launched 24 ballistic missiles, four hypersonic missiles, and 115 drones targeting civilian infrastructure and residential areas overnight.

A reminder that #RussiaIsATerroristState This was no mistake, accident, or collateral damage. This was the deliberate targeting of a Ukrainian civilian, after which the Russian unit responsible proudly posted their footage online. He survived, but hundreds of "human safari" victims did not.

On 29 August, Icelanders will vote on whether to open talks on joining the EU. Iceland is already part of the single market and Schengen, but economic pressures, security concerns and changing attitudes have put its relationship with Europe back on the agenda.
The funniest - and least discussed - aspect of this is that Farage, having reportedly told RefUK he'd only lead them if compensated for the £1m a year income he had outside politics, pocketed their five million, then kept earning from outside interests at the same rate anyway. He scammed even them.
Important, because Farage's defence for not declaring Harborne's £5m 'gift' has always been very specific: he did not decide to stand until 3rd of June. Turns out this deal was struck mid-May (confirmed by RefUK) and facilitated by Farage's other big donor, convicted felon 'Posh' George Cotrell. 🧐

But that would mean I already knew I was going back into politics when I accepted the £5 million, so I'd have been lying when I said I didn't need to declare it.
