For those searching for info (like me), the reconciliation process used for the BBB cannot be used to address discretionary funding, like NIH & NSF. So those continue to operate under the continuing resolution until the next appropriations process, which will begin in July and end in September.
Neuropsychology's updated aims are now live. The new aims honor the journal's rich history and introduce fresh areas of emphasis, including culture/social factors, everyday functioning, transdiagnostic constructs, and open science. www.apa.org/pubs/journal... @apajournals.bsky.social

Neuropsychology is particularly interested in articles that address everyday functioning, cultural factors, social determinants of health, brain health, and transdiagnostic constructs. Learn more & submit your manuscript to the journal: bit.ly/3ZfJeBt @stevenpaulwoods.bsky.social #neuroskyence
When the March budget passback doc proposed to eliminate the NIDILRR, the disability research community got to work and fought back. Last week's Presidential Budget Request showed the worst measures had been walked back. #PressureWorks 💪 @dramandar.bsky.social discusses this win in a new article

The Trump fascist slide is happening fast. You want to take action to help stop it. What can you do? Get people off of Twitter. It’s one of the most powerful things any of us can do. Ask friends and colleagues to close their accounts and move here. 🧪
I realize posting this here is preaching to the choir. But after the Grok White Genocide thing & Ye essentially launching an exclusive Neo Nazi single on the platform... I felt motivated to write about X and how bizarre it is that so many people (news outlets, celebrities, politicians) use it
How might AI change our brains? Neuropsychology's readers were very interested in this question, which was posed in this frequently downloaded 2024 paper from Leon-Dominguez. @apajournals.bsky.social doi.org/10.1037/neu0...

Unpopular opinion: I’ve signed a few of these open letters, but frankly, that is not enough. Faculty need to organize AND unionize. I began my #ProfessorLife in a union shop (Wayne State) & I’m now in AAUP-AFT’s at large chapter. Best time to unionize was yesterday. Second best is today.
Our university’s NIH CTSA (Clinical and Translational Science Award) was just cancelled for having some keywords that just mean it will serve ALL people in Utah. This funds research that moves discovery science into clinical therapies. This is literally the mandate of the NIH! 😰 🧪

What is something about graduate school or life in academia that you think undergraduate you would have benefited from knowing? I am putting together some content for a seminar class next week and would appreciate your suggestions! Also would appreciate a re-post! 😁🙏
We need to organize--let’s help each other. NIH is cancelling grants, but it's not clear exactly what they're cancelling and why. Without this information, we can't respond. I've started a Google Sheet to track grant cancellations. Please add any canceled grants you know of and spread the word!

NEW: The NIH has begun terminating grants for active projects studying gender identity, DEI, environmental justice, climate change, among other topics. At least 16 termination letters have already been sent — and hundreds more are coming, people inside NIH tell me. www.nature.com/articles/d41...
I currently have two fully-funded PhD opportunities in my lab - both providing a chance to work on the incredible LEAF data set that we have been collecting the last couple of years (220 children followed longitudinally from 10-30 months on measures of attention and early EF). Please share!
Any talk you hear from the current administration about making the US more competitive in science and technology is utter bullshit. What they are doing is sabotaging our country for years if not decades to come.

The people who would be most harmed by the closures of financially precarious colleges and universities are poor people, first generation students, people of color, and students with caretaking responsibilities That is who your small/no endowment schools disproportionately serve

This afternoon, my study section scheduled for Monday and Tuesday was canceled. It’s Higher Cognitive and Mental Functions, or something like that— HCMF. I wonder why they always wait until the last minute? It’s a pattern and I bet there’s a reason.
🧪 #publichealth Newly funded NIH grants = new job offers. Renewed grants = jobs retained. Musk has paralyzed NIH funding. NIA council recommends funding for grants, meets 3x/year. The January meeting was cancelled and has not been rescheduled. Red state people please call, email your reps/senators.
