i hate genAI so much but what i'm not gonna do is accuse authors of using it in public because everyone overestimates their ability to detect it. just quit reading the thing if you think it's AI rather than start a potential controversy over processes you do not understand.

PSA: the graphic designer behind Plott Hound's issues/a family member of mine and I got news that my great-aunt has stage IV cancer, so that will slightly delay our work in putting Issue 6 together. Thanks for your patience and understanding.
Plan for my next big international trip in 2027 is Iceland. Looking into pronunciation guides so I can at least say the names of cities and landmarks correctly. Icelandic ð looks like someone grabbed and snapped the spine of Vietnamese đ.
As if the 10+ grammatical cases in Finnish aren't enough to wrestle with already, I'm almost losing my mind over learning both puhekieli (spoken Finnish) and kirjakieli (written/standard Finnish)
California critters spotted during my week long vacation. Some of the rocks have flippers.
Business cards for Plott Hound arrived today! I'll be handing them out after my writing + publishing furry short fiction presentation at Denfur!

My little contribution to the newsletter in the OR lounge. The entire anesthesia department already knows my hatred of AI so they should know who "contributed."

I'm excited to be hosting 2 meetups and a panel at Denfur: Friday Colorado Springs Furry Meetup 3:30-4:30 PM From the Editor's Desk: How to Publish Furry Short Fiction 6:30-7:30 PM Saturday Medical Fur Meetup 4-5 PM I'll bring stickers! Hope to see you there.
Here's my take on the "when you have a million hobbies but only 24 hours in a day" trend
Reading 1 and 2-star reviews of books by my favorite authors actually feels kind of cathartic. Creative work is subjective and not everyone is going to love it, and that's ok. People are allowed to have opinions. Opinions of that opinion are fine, too.
We have decided to remove a short story from Issue 153 of Apex Magazine. After meeting with our reading and editorial teams, we'd like to share with you what happened, and importantly, how we plan to move forward from here. Thank you for sticking with us. 💜👽
I realized as I'm learning Finnish that the Pokemon Uxie is pronounced the same way as yksi, the Finnish word for "one."
My OR colleagues look at me like I lost my marbles whenever I have to answer with a number or yes/no and I reply in Russian or Finnish before English. The things you do for language learning. (Seitsemän is my favorite number to say)
Highlights of Anthrocon 2026: -panel on learning basic ASL led by a deaf furry, Gabriel Wolf -furry orchestra (!!) -night dance parties (my dance buddy and hypeman pictured here)
Anthrocon 2026 was a blast, despite the cancelled parade due to extreme heat. 3rd year's the charm, hopefully?
One of my two cats has a delightful habit of chucking up hairballs on the nice clean floor literally hours after the monthly cleaners take care of my house
I guess it's because I'm not a normie, but I don't understand why dressing up in cosplay, as a Disney or sports mascot is considered cute and fun, but a furry dressing up as a character of their own creation is considered cringe.
The impending end of physical games makes me value my signed box art and collector's editions even more

games have been huge success. thats why we're firing every one who makes games. also we are going to make it so players can no longer buy games
I will be at Anthrocon this year! I was too late to register for official writing-related con panels or meetups, but I still want to hold a casual, unofficial Plott Hound meetup for anyone connected with or has interest in the magazine. Details of meetup in reply below:
Travelling to Finland this May was the closest I've ever been to Russia (and given the dumpster fire state of things, the closest I'll be in a long time). Helsinki is only 188 miles from St. Petersburg (for reference, that's shorter than the distance between Houston and Dallas).
I'm picking Russian back up to prepare for future travels to central Asia. I already know how to read Cyrillic and have pronunciation down, but I really need to beef up my vocabulary.
Sending post-rejection threats to me or the slush readers, not to mention racist and/or sexist comments aimed at me, an Asian woman, is a swift ticket to being banned from ever submitting to Plott Hound again. Byyyyye.
Farewell party for an anesthetist coworker at the brewery today. My other coworker brought her new baby who's 1/4 Viet, so I doted over him like a Vietnamese auntie (Lots of "Em bé dễ thương quá!" / Such a cute baby!)
