Best Bird dad/mediocre husband. Former 2x Writer of the Year. Minor A’s Bluesky celebrity. Once fought off 22 raccoons. I call all y’all "dude". Yes, I have a podcast. 📍San Diego
Jason and I also rap about the Yankees' and fandom in the context of a famous Derek Jeter quote. Is the season a failure if your team doesn't win the World Series? Hope you'll give it a listen! open.spotify.com/episode/68jP...

Learning about spotted lanternflies on the TL today and I'll take earthquakes and $8 gas in California any damn day of the week
I have no time for your crybaby blathering about the start times on the east coast for World Series games, but I'm *absolutely* here for any and all complaints about "night" games in Cincinnati starting at 340PM west/best coast time #athletics
Colleague brought me a bánh mì from food truck down street. It was - at best - a bánh mì *inspired* sandwich and more of a panini, but the protein was pork belly and it's one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Truck is gone tho and my colleague didn't get the name, so now I'll be haunted by it 😭
M'man @sheehannewsletter.bsky.social started his homestretch check-ins on all 30 teams with capsules on the Angels, Giants, Royals, Rockies, Mets and #athletics and as the excerpt indicates, he doesn't think the A's blowing a late one-run lead on two straight run-scoring wild pitches is "watchable".
👋🏾Hey! I have around 4-6 episodes of my cockamamie Fancestor podcast in the can. I'm trying to record one new episode/week, so if we connected on here STAY IN LINE, please. I'll be in touch 2-3 weeks in advance to land on a recording date. Thanks to everyone who's come thru and all y'all listening🙏🏾
Along similar lines, the 1990 Oakland A's won the AL pennant and that was that. For reasons lost to time, the World Series was not played that year. Not enough people talk about that
A policy I embrace and will employ here: TV shows end when I decide they end. And Ted Lasso ended. They landed the plane. It's done. There's a new season you say? Funny, I've got a TV that doesn't seem to pick up that signal. Must be faulty. Ah well.
Our run club group chat was all about the Seattle smoke today. I learned I'm a much bigger weenie about AQI than the rest of them. My lungs are more delicate than Jed Lowrie in a Mets uniform.

Making myself an A's shirt and have an unfortunate design placement at the center back seam, just above my butt. Feature or bug? #sewing #athletics #baseball
And, it is considerably safer than it was 40 years ago. There are so many additional safety procedures and additional equipment to make the flights safer. Plus, people actually listen to the flight attendants as safety personnel instead of treating them like sexy waitresses.
Air travel has gotten significantly better. There is NO SMOKING on flights. I remember flying as a kid with people smoking in the same row. It was terrible. People complain about delays, but there are considerably more flights now & not a lot more runways. Lower prices have democratized flying.
Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.
I swear it's been endless amateur hour with these #athletics in the second half lol. Just indefensibly bad baseball night after night. Brain cramps, not a lick of focus and a bullpen's dogged refusal to throw strikes. Woo, lawd lol
Haven't had a really bad brain day in awhile, so I guess I should take solace in that, but bad brain days suck. Stupid brain. Be less broken
Everyone there hogging the Bluetooth speakers to play their podcasts lol dorks
There are not enough nerdy baseball stat parties. I might actually attend one of those.
Not sure if it has, but on July 31, 1995, the first and second overall picks in the 1988 draft were involved in separate deadline deals. I am fun at parties 🥳
I wonder if yesterday was the first time two No. 1 picks in the MLB Draft were traded on the same day (Casey Mize, Adley Rutschman)?
Assuming he strained it chasing Jack down the beanstalk?
"Never read the comments", etc, but between the Red Sox fans popping off in here and the vitriolic online blowback to Skubal's 100% correct comments about how anyone could have traded for him, it's important to note how many "fans" HATE the players of a game they ostensibly love
wtf are the Red Sox doing by trading Marcelo Mayer for a middling LHR? www.nytimes.com/athletic/749...
This 100% is my opinion on the lockout right down to the fans and the number of games likely to be missed
Someone asked me how I think the lockout is gonna go. I gave my best stab. I think it'd take a major change in the way the sides usually operate for me change my mind about this. Also: public opinion doesn't matter and "fans' rights" are not a thing. www.cupofcoffeenews.com/cup-of-coffe...
I know everything is content these days. You kids and your Tik Toks and flip flops, etc. But, when you young bums sneak into the decent seats at a ballgame just to throw up a peace sign and duck lips for the 'Gram while standing with the diamond at your backs, blocking MY view? DOWN IN FRONT
What's your old person trait?
If there's a more infuriating/annoying baseball account on Al Gore's internet, I don't wanna know about it
I'm mad online. Don't let anyone know that I am mad but I am extremely mad online

Need 10 of you to join me for an “Ocean’s 11” style heist. Since Garret lives in Texas, the plan is simple: unload a dump truck filled with those weird gas station brisket sandwiches in his front yard. While his whole family is devouring them, we go in his house and *yoink*
My dad keeps enticing @thatbootlegguy.bsky.social for a heist…adding more things. And now they are displayed in the guest room. I entered and said: “oooo my stuff”
