One year ago, our rescue vessel Ocean Viking came under heavy fire from the Libyan Coast Guard vessel Houn 664 while carrying 87 people we had been rescued at sea. A year later, no one has been held accountable.
Yesterday, shortly after midnight, the NADIR crew made contact with a black rubber boat in distress off the Tunisian coast. The boat was taking on water and was at risk of sinking, so the crew brought everyone aboard immediately. A Mayday relay was sent right away.
Our crew rescues 6 people. Minutes later, a Libyan boat aims a gun at them. Days later, they're documenting 8 bodies in the water. Italy's response: Sea-Watch 5 gets detained for 45 days. Plus a €7,500 fine. sea-watch.org/en/after-gun-threat-and-discovery-of-corpses-italy-detains-sea-watch-5
This morning the #OceanViking rescued 55 people, including 8 women and 9 children, from an overcrowded rubber boat in distress in the Maltese SRR following a Mayday relay from a Frontex aircraft. They spent 3 days at sea. Most are from war-torn #Sudan. Our crew is caring for them
We have no words for what we saw this weekend. 14 people. 14 human beings who hoped to find safety in Europe. Instead, we found their lifeless bodies floating in the Mediterranean 👉 tinyurl.com/mrxy9m43

Today, our Seabird aircrew spotted 3 dead bodies at sea near a capsized rubber boat. Yesterday, Sea-Watch 5 found 8 bodies in advanced decomposition. The Central Mediterranean is a state-led cemetery. We mourn the dead. Let's remember: Another world is possible. End the killing.

Breaking Louise Michel detained after disembarking 6 survivors in Pozzallo Our ship has been detained under the so-called Piantedosi decree, right after our crew transferred the 6 survivors of our last rescue to a Coast Guard vessel in Pozzallo.
😍 The sea trial of our new rescue ship, Humanity 2, was a full success. Every effort to bring another rescue ship into operation brings us closer to the vision we believe in – human rights for everyone and a Central Mediterranean where no one is left to drown. ✊🏾✊🏿✊🏻✊🏽 🎥 Leon Salner / SOS Humanity
Yesterday night our crew recovered 6 people from the water after noticing flashing lights in the night. A fast boat close by left the scene at high speed southwards. The survivors reported to have been forced by gunpoint to jump into the water.

Yesterday our crew found a rubber boat in distress. All 27 people could be embarked onto the Louise Michel. As several other boats were earlier reported in the area through mayday relays, our crew continued the search until the evening but had to abandon due to the night. 1/2
Last week, an Italian court ruled that the detention of the rescue vessel Humanity 1 was unlawful. 👉🏻This reinforces what Italian courts have made clear: it is "absolutely impossible" to consider Libya a place of safety while refugees continue to face human rights violations with impunity. 1/3
Yet another avoidable tragedy: At least 50 people, including women and children, are feared dead after a wooden boat capsized off Tobruk, Libya. Only 10 survived, amid Europe’s continued failure to assume responsibility for search and rescue at sea.

Sea Punk I rescues nine people out of an unseaworthy rubber boat in distress at sea! A small rubber boat, losing air on one side, with 9 people on board drifting - seven of them unaccompanied minors. This is the situation our crew encountered yesterday. Everything happened very quickly.
We have now disembarked safely after rescuing 52 people. Italy forced survivors to endure a four-day journey to Marina di Carrara: this endangers our guests and means four days without rescues. This cruel policy must stop! Our guests' determination serves as an inspiration to us.
The 4th vessel in 2026 of the Justice Fleet has been detained! CompassCollective has received their detention order: 10.000 Euro and 45 days of detention. For what? For saving people from being brought back to violence. 1/2
