Bah... I highly doubt I'm going to get this sermon finished today. Kinda need to though. The rest of my week is a bit crazy.

I feel like this story of Jesus walking on water has been hammered to death. We all know it ends up being about having faith in Jesus... but for what? What are we trusting Jesus to do? That's what I'm looking at.

Fame and accomplishment really are the currency of Christianity.

Coming here again. I was told there is a particular section of #NewOrleans which does not have any food pantries close by. Many people are hungry but cannot access a food bank. Looking for churches/good human beings that can help me help people on the ground get food. Can you/locals help? I'm in NY.

I went to church at my small, Episcopal church this morning. Hadn't been for months. I was immediately remembered, despite some radical changes. Harry was gracious and excited to see me... and wanted to get me licenced on the preaching schedule. He remembered when I preached before and loved it. ⚓

Thisnweek, I couldn't get my heart around the gospel passage. So nonsermon/essay, unless something magic happens today.

If the gospel is the Jesus story (born, died, rose again) then how would Jesus be preaching the gospel when the death and resurrection were still to come? And why didn't Mark start with the birth? The "gospel" most evangelicals preach is just a narrative story.

Jesus was grieving when he handed out the fishes and loaves. We saught to get away to process his trauma of John the Baptizer's death, but that was inturrupted by the crowds. He still was moved in his guts to heal and help them. But he was still grieving and processing trauma.
