ended up talking to the 4th grader this morning about fascists, which can be hard to explain simply. i said fascists get mad the world isn't how they want, so they make up a story: things used to be good, but certain people ruined it, and if we just get rid of them everything will be good again

In Massachusetts, we have a responsibility to protect the vulnerable and stand up for those who need it. We don’t throw trans kids under the bus for political points. We protect them—and all of our neighbors—because trans rights are human rights.

What @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social told me the House agenda will be next year if Democrats win —Reverse Trump’s Medicaid cuts —Extend expired ACA tax credits —Restore Congress’s authority on tariffs —“Decisively” end the Iran war Beyond that: “We’ve established five working groups on affordability”

“Organizing a blue-ribbon committee to investigate…” “We’ve established five working groups on affordability…” Indistinguishable from parody. And this from @kentremendous.bsky.social is eight years old.

Let me lay out what worries me about the new federal voucher scheme and why I think it's so structurally similar to old-school vouchers, rather than a sudden jiu jitsu reveral that "goal-line interception" implies. For me, the diff is WHERE the privatization is, not whether it's privatization

I’m not lobbying for opt-in but I’m also unwilling to downplay the real money for public schools just to strategically keep blue states out. I think the Trojan Horse is the wrong metaphor. It’s more we got a goal line interception after vouchers were driving down the field for years.

No one is more invested in keeping everything the same than a middle manager who rose to the top of their ability within the current system. Change is a threat to people like that
