You'll excuse me if I ignore the convicted felon's temper tantrum and his access to a map and a sharpie. It's still the Gulf of Mexico. It's still Lake Ontario. This dude and his supporters are so goddamn weird.

Keighley's disinterest in excluding AI trailers really devalues the whole thing. These events are rarely to my taste, but the experience of watching "ONL" was one of watching slop. Even non-AI games are tainted by the association — we have to second-guess, every time.

Gamescom AI Slop Thread. Every game from the Gamescom Opening Ceremonies that was actually AI Slop so you don't have to care about it.

I find it very difficult to feel genuine excitement about game announcements anymore. That real, explosive wow-feeling. Even if something looks like I might enjoy it I have to stop and think, "is this AI?". They're destroying wonder and awe in their soulless bid for every penny in our pockets.

I cannot stress enough: the AI bubble has already popped it is just being kept on life support by corporations trying to squeeze even a dollar more out of their shit investment, and tech bros doing the same before abandoning their shit company startups. keep hating on AI, you're winning

Report Suggests Nearly No One Is Buying AI Generated Goods https://kotaku.com/3d-model-markets-are-being-flooded-with-ai-sellers-but-no-ones-buying-2000724790

During the panel this app called Foxglove was mentioned. Similarly to Glaze and Nightshade it poison your art for scrapers, with the advantage that you don’t have to download a program locally to do that and the process is super quick online. foxgloveapp.com

Foxglove - Beautiful to humans. Poison for machines.

Poison your art for AI before you post. Strip metadata, embed hidden messages, disrupt AI training. Everything runs on your device.

Can't fit my reply / personal exp into a post, but yeah this thread definitely stirred some emotions. I really... really want to find a *good* place to work. 20 years of experience. I had a reputation for immaculate consistency, bug-free code, self-managing, "the guy to throw hard problems at".

This all rings so true. At least half my time at my last game dev job was burned on features that ranged from mostly-useless to actively bad, all to make some numbers on a spreadsheet look better, to attract investors who had no vision beyond dollar signs.

To no surprise, my company tanked and we all lost our jobs. There was a deep and honest drive from our company to make the game *GOOD* and keep a healthy social environment for players.

But investors choked us out, then cut us off because the things we had to do to please them killed the game, and execs were too desperate to push back. There was so much internal feedback from on-the-ground workers. Ideas that were fun, that delivered new experiences our players craved.

They were always met with garbage like, "What's the ROI on that?", "Let's add that to our wants-list", "We must prioritize <expensive feature> to increase store click-through rate."

We've seen some questions pop up around layoffs: "well, if they were laid off, didn't that mean they weren't doing a good job? Maybe they deserved it." And on its face, that sounds logical and legitimate. Because the opposite would just be pure cruelty, right? ...Right? ...So here's the thing.

NGL, there's a part of me that is so absolutely *FURIOUS* about this that I'm tempted to delete my entire channel purely out of fucking spite. Because FUCK Y'ALL FOR EVEN *THINKING* ABOUT THIS! LET ALONE FOLLOWING THROUGH!!!! YOU KNEW WE HATED IT AND DID IT ANYWAY!!!!!

Fuck You

Twitch isn't making Gen AI training *opt-in* because no one would voluntarily choose to opt in. Instead, they are offering an opt-out option.

"Indies will save us" No! YOU WILL SAVE INDIES! Go leave a review for that neat indie game you like, share the trailer for an upcoming game you're anticipating, tell your fave developer they did a good job, go tell people about such and such game that's just come out, you can make a difference!
