Finished upgrading this 2012 Mac Pro recovered from a pile of ewaste. It now has a pair of 3GHz Xeon processors, 64GB of RAM, an RX 580 GPU, NVMe hard drive and SSD, USB 3.1, and upgraded WiFi and Bluetooth. I’ve installed Debian 13 with KDE, and I think this will become my daily driver.

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.
Every time I think of medication or related appointments or my condition, I am sad. As if I never left the hospital. I am scared too. It's not that bad yet it is.

i just got an originally xbox and i have to say that while the original “duke” controller is definitely weird, some of the choices they made are really cool. i love the way the face buttons catch the light and the weird oval shape they have, which is surprisingly ergonomic

I see tech magazines in my libby app, but every magazine is somewhat apologetic to AI. There may be some good things, especially when checked, but all I see is terrible fake art, thumbnails and hallucinations. Not to mention rise in price of tech, wasting water and increasing climate change.
