I have sabbatical starting July 2026! I was planning to visit Cornell to work on various labour law projects, but you know, Trump. So no USA. Instead, I’ll be a Visiting Professor at Oxford and the London School of Economics during the year instead! So that turned out pretty excellent!
On a similar point, it is irresponsible for academics to schedule international academic conferences in the U.S. during the Trump regime. It is not safe for visitors. All conferences should be moved aboard until further notice. We can host them in Canada.

Talked to my 96 year old mom today, who lived thru Nazis bombing her town in north England as a girl. She commented on how she never imagined that she’d be living in a time when the United States was the bad guy threatening war all over the world, including against allies. Sad times indeed.
Professional athletes used to stand for something. Professional sports unions and leagues could be leading the resistance against Trump’s fascism and hate movement. Instead, silence and capitulation. Great article.

I can’t get over the insanity of Ontario Conservatives spending billions of dollars on a third highway, thru farmland, that literally leads nowhere! It just spits people out at Highway 400 where they join a two mile long queue to get back on the 401. There’s no other explanation but corruption.
