Because I am actively researching and writing about the FAA practically every day, I spend a lot of time reading about accidents from the 1970s and 80s. You have no idea how incredibly dangerous it was back then. No idea at all. Just read the commercial crash stats for AK in the '90s. Good grief.

Food, man. Food is so much better than it was in 1986. All of it. Poor-people food, restaurant food, fresh food, frozen food. Food is just a hell of a lot better.

Canadian penpal sent me a fast bird and mentioned she was trying to get stamps on it so if I know anyone anywhere cool could I hook her up. I mentioned my Namibian penpal but it's not my turn to send one for a bit... but then I got a new letter from Bahrain! That'll do!

I know it’s so pedantic, but I hate it when people throw toga parties and then wear a Greek chiton off Amazon with, like, a gold meander pattern. That’s why I always teach my students how to tie a proper bedsheet toga—because Rome.

I know DCM are about to launch an appeal to help fund crisis accommodation for rough sleeping whānau so please follow them and give where you can. The number of people in our communities sleeping out in the open in sub zero conditions through freezing southerlies, hail, rain and flooding is increasing. A reminder that this government has made it harder for people to access emergency accommodation and have left these same people to freeze to death on the streets because apparently it is "their own fault that they are homeless". We can fix this when we boot them out in less than 100 days but for now, let's get in behind our local organisations on the frontline who can act now with our support. A

Underneath solar panels, plants grew much more and used less water, "Chiltepin pepper plants produced three times as much fruit as those grown in full sun. Jalapenos matched their usual harvest while using 65 percent less water. Tomatoes grown under the array came in at twice the normal yield."
