D&D surely is the lingua franca of Actual Play, just like English is the linguistic lingua franca of Actual Plays. That doesn't mean you can't introduce people to new languages. Just like "actual" languages, the more TTRPGs you "speak", the more colorful your experience in the hobby will be.

I'm seeing people note that the pressure of maintaining a content creator career is liable to create the temptation for AI use, and discussing how this impacts people like Hank Green. And I think that's worth noting. It is also part of why I decided to not operate under that pressure.

The August newsletter us out. Please take the time to read this, it covers some stuff that I felt was pretty important to say: mailchi.mp/cd2a72d9637e...

I very rarely use temp names. But when I do, changing it IS a bit of a struggle; part of how I make peace with that is usually by using the name in a different way. Sandara has a long name that includes her temp as a middle name. Matteson's temp first name became his dad's name. #WritingCommunity

Q for writers of all stripes -- prose, screenplays, comics, etc. If you use temp names for characters in early drafts, do you find yourself struggling when renaming them with their "real" names? And if so, how do you make peace with the changes?

I don't want to shoot videos I don't want to post tutorials I don't want to show my process I don't want to pour varnish I don't want to turn my canvas I don't want to record my screen I don't want to cultivate parasocial relationships I just want to make pictures and shitpost

The way profit maxxing corpo culture has invaded every form of art through algorithms pushing people into daily posting is really weighing on me lately. Efficiency and regularity of making "content" being prized above all else feels so grim, man.

Two cakes! I put mine out in like, idk, 2023? Just because I wanted something for my pages and stuff and thought hey why don't I share it with everyone else as well I make big ol stickers & label sheets to go with. It's been pretty neat! Just placed another order for more of the big vinyl stickers

A Democrat saying "Black people shouldn't have healthcare" or "Jews aren't biological people" or "immigrants shouldn't be allowed to play sports" would be ostracized and condemned from coast to coast, so why should we accept these repulsive beliefs when it comes to trans people?

The modern world has made clear that what was desirable about Star Trek wasn’t the technology, it was the society that made life and use of the technology sustainable. Talking to a computer with deep access to vast records actually sucks when it's a front for siphoning money to billionaires.

People on Bluesky sigh and talk about The Discourse as if it were something required of them instead of something they opt to partake in, day in and day out. You really don't have to. Post about your favorite cheese

#AutChat A4: Not great, Bob. I have found very few autism-related communities. Most have been on Discord. Many have been large and I found them overwhelming. Sometimes mods turned out to be toxic and I had to leave. Some "pay me to be your autism coach!" pipelines. I've been comfortable in like 2.

Q4: Have you participated in other online autism- or neurodivergence-related communities? What’s your experience been like? #AutChat

#AutChat A3a: Almost entirely. I have a couple autistic friends, and I learned a little about it from them, but they weren't around either time I was actively trying to learn about autism in particular or neurodivergence in general in any intense way. The first time was bc I hadn't met them yet.

Q3: Did the internet play a role in your learning about autism or other neurodivergences (either pre- or post-diagnosis/self-diagnosis)? #AutChat
