If any journo justified their suggestion that Jude Bellingham either shouldn't start in or shouldn't go to this World Cup by criticising his arrogance/petulance/ego/self-interest etc. they should be sacked, because they're either A) Shit at their job, or B) Probably racist. Future England captain.

For whom it may concern - please stop saying "Balogun shouldn't have been sent off, so suspending his ban is ok." Sport only works when rules are fair and equally applied. Argue for a fairer appeal process, argue for VAR to be less shit. Don't argue FIFA should be able to pick and choose. Please.
Even if you don't think it was a red, FIFA suspending Balogun's ban is deeply worrying for the state of the game. In article 27, FIFA have a clause where they get to pick and choose how discipline is applied based on reputation, politics or profit - and they are quite prepared to use it for such.
What a goal. My mind is not prepared for the possibility this might be Messi's last every World Cup match.

Some history of FIFA and the 1930 World Cup in there too. Second rant out later today, around kickoff time of Mexico vs. South Africa. And it's a good one, if we may say.
World Cup day one and at the Almanac we're feeling pretty mixed emotions. We love football but hate FIFA, we love the passion of the US, Mexican and Canadian fans but hate seeing Trump's racist policies affecting worthy participants of the sport we love. So we're going to rant about it, naturally.
Trump/Miller and the rest of those fuckwits are trying to win votes. They want to be seen as tough on immigration ahead of November, and Omar Artan's career to them is no price to pay. Where are all the "politics and sport shouldn't mix" crowd now? 2/2
