An immigrant in Turin, scribbling about food, Slow Food, art, homes, music, books. And cheese. Lots of cheese. No DMs unless agreed.

Please share the information about Oleshky everywhere you can! Russia is starving residents of the town and nearby villages by denying food supplies and evacuation. People in Oleshky need help, or else they won't survive the winter!

Anne Louise writes quite wonderfully and her pieces are a beautiful antidote to the unfocused negativity that pervades so much of public debate. Entertaining, amusing, moving, intriguing, she is always refreshing. Do enjoy her work and sponsor her if you possible can.

Anne’s writing is really unusual. In a world awash in unfocused verbiage, her work is like a fine mosaic with every word carefully chosen and exactly right. Reading one of her stories is a kind of mental timeline cleanse that restores an awareness of humanity and balance.

@annelouiseavery.bsky.social publishes such generously long stories in her Patreon, stories that invite slow and luxuriant reading—an absolute treat in our chaotic clickbait world. Why not treat yourself and join a lovely community of patrons?

The Dragon of Kensington Church Street

Kentish barn, eyerolling at yet another walker cooing at the oast house at its shoulder. Hop cones on the vines in the hedgerows at Ightham Mote Farm, & hoppers huts on the field edges. Hop-picking holiday country, somewhere hereabouts, that Grandad knew as a boy.
