Reading Infinite Jest and coming to the realisation that DFW was the closest thing to Mervyn Peake modern literature has produced. Both Enfield and Gormenghast are examined to the point of madness, and both are full of characters that are grotesque.

Great insight into one of the best to ever do it from her own son. Of particular insight is the point that she was capable of changing and understanding how she had changed (in a way few others are able to or willing to do.)
