It’s a lot of young people raised online, well before they can understand how complicated morality really is and - importantly - before they can see that complexity in themselves. From experience, the realization that you, too, fall under a shade of grey is *crushing* if you’re used to moralizing.

I love it when im unable to process my medications at CVS because I get a reminder from my psychiatrist to call the CVS and then the CVS tells me I can't get it processed until a certain date because thats what my psychiatrist listed it as— and then not being given a date by anyone. OK brother.

Hey, a good way to celebrate Lindsey Graham kicking the bucket is to contact your senators about KOSA and the KIDS Act. Graham was a big proponent of these kinds of laws, as well as of gutting section 230.

I'm sure some of them care, but family trauma has taught me that it isn't worth the hassle to show them anything I do anymore. My accomplishments and my art are just for me now. And I'm good with that.

At the end of the term I asked my college creative wriing students to submit anonymous thoughts on AI. No real surprises: Mood ranges from resignation to despair, capitulation from embittered erosion of standards to total, feelings of betrayal from deep to furious. 1/
Reminder that children are not their parents' property, despite how most of society consciously or subconsciously sees them. The job of a parent is to make sure that children have the opportunity to grow up safely into the people said children want to be. NOT who the parents want the kid to be.
LEVEL 1: Asylums are scary because there's crazy people there. LEVEL 2: We shouldn't treat mental health facilities as objects of horror because it stigmatises mental illness. LEVEL 3: Asylums are scary because there's psychiatrists there.
