A student I taught 3 years ago was murdered and I found out today. He would have graduated in May 2027. 2nd student from my school to die from gun violence in a year and a half Our kids deserve better

On Nov 18, 2020, my dad had a non COVID medical emergency There were 11 ICU beds in the entire state of Maryland when he was admitted We cant let RFK erase the deaths of millions of people or the trauma that healthcare workers experienced

While I was in Ecuador, I crossed the Río Tomebamba at least twice a day. The bridge I walked over is the city of Cuenca's memorial to victims of femicide. It was powerful to have the beauty of the river juxtaposed with the reality of gender based violence.

View of the Río Tomebamba in Cuenca, Ecuador from the Mariano Moreno Bridge. Its a sunny day with large fluffy clouds. Both banks of the river have trees and are very green. You can see the river bed on the left side, but the water is flowing on the right.Photo of the plaque on the Mariano Moreno Bridge in Cuenca, Ecuador. The bridge is also named "Puente Vivas Nos Queremos" which translates to "We want ourselves to be alive". This phrase comes from the anti-femicide movement in Mexico.
The plaque is surrounded by the names of femicide victims in purple while the bridge itself is white.

The House Appropriations Committee moved forward a bill that will fund ACT for ALS at 85M, $10M more in ALS research at the NIH, and $3M more for the CDC’s ALS Registry at CDC. We are grateful for the increases in funds, but it is not enough. Take action: bit.ly/ALSFY-27

So much love and solidarity to Ana Murguia, Debra Rojas, Dolores Huerta, and every other survivor. Chavez was just a man; women like them, then and now, are the true heroes of the farmworkers’ movement.

Lobbied Baltimore County legislators in Annapolis yesterday with @tabco.org We need 1. The right to strike for public sector workers 2. Our education support professionals (ESPs) like paraeducators, clerical staff, bus drivers, and cafeteria staff to have base pay of $25/hr
