this facility and its mission are sinful and disgusting and wrong and I wish it were not happening. but are you telling me they're going to build one of the country's largest immigration detention facilities in a state which trained and hardened hundreds of lawyers to file habeas petitions??

Cishet white man gets snarky in response to valid criticism of his media habits, refuses to change, still escapes with good reputation/progressive sheen. Trans woman who lightly criticized him is lambasted in fascist media for weeks on end, banned from website, screamed at by everyone. A Tuesday.

Anyone who knows me even a little, or has even followed me long on social media, already knows this about me. Our institutions are literally trying to erase trans people right now, and it pisses me off. A snarky reply to one bad take on Bluesky doesn’t mean that’s changed at all. ⬇️

As fun as it is to argue with engineers who are convinced they are right no matter what the data says, it is in fact worse to argue with ones who are provably wrong and who think they have someone who agrees with them (generative AI)

An inch??? The Laken Riley Act requires DHS to hold undocumented immigrants if they are arrested for shoplifting, among other things. Without bail or bond. AN INCH??? You voted to unleash DHS on our communities and neighbors.

“My regret to give them a f***ing inch does drive my commitment to making sure that the Trump administration pays for what they’ve done,” said Rep. Angie Craig about her vote for the Laken Riley Act. minnesotareformer.com/2026/07/27/w...

"the graphics have caught up with our imagination" is intended as a compliment but is inadvertently damning of the whole project. Yeah, the imagination of Halo no longer exceeds a high-resolution tree. Cool.

The original Halo presented an alluring and mysterious setting that combined alien ruins with Pacific Northwest-inspired natural grandeur, but the level of detail back then simply hadn't yet caught up with the imagination. That's resolved here, with a gorgeous visual update that makes the whole campaign pop with excitement.

I love the two cities, but don’t let people tell you that you have to live in certain cool neighborhoods, because I have been all over NE and Roseville this morning, and every errand included Interacting With A Gay person, proving it is cool everywhere

(3 drinks) sometimes the world is so magnificent that i will weep at the many simple beauties you encounter during a normal day (3.25 drinks) if you begin to think about it enemies are actually surrounding me and closing in. i am beset upon by evil on all sides.

I had some phenomenal English teachers who squished my brain into a shape that made particular books incredible. I also had very bad professors who did the opposite...but it's 2026. There are *podcasts* (I know, but I'm being deliberate) that teach books better than some high school teachers do.

Our whole society is geared against reading, so it's just a weird flex to be like "Yeah and so I don't! And that's all because reading assignments weren't specifically catered to me, a ten year old who didn't want to read anything and who has resented having to now for decades." What

I understand that it sucks to have to read a book you didn't choose as a kid but when people are like 40 and still going, "well assigned reading turned me off from reading" it's like, ok but you're 40. No one has assigned you a book in like 20 years.

Hey, this is what having a city council representative should be like. Pilllar is a great part of the community, we should all have people in government sticking up for us. Elliott rules, we are extremely lucky to have him, no I will not shut up about this.

Elliott Payne@elliottpayne.org · 3w ago

Thanks to everyone for reaching out about how important it is to them for Pilllar to stay open. I’m happy to report that we’ve found a path forward for them to open back up their venue side tomorrow!! The massive show of community support all across the city for Pilllar was so heartening to see.

A hidden terribleness about the AI translations of older games that keep popping up lately - in this case Tricolor Crise for the Dreamcast - is the way they knock the wind out of the sails of the people who are trying to actually do it properly. LLM version didn't even use the right character names.

I have been working on this game with a real proper translation for quite some time now. This whole thing has just been a slap to my face for all the time and effort I've put into making something great for this great game. This person gives zero F's about this game; they just chose it because.
