That guy from that blog long time ago. Now running a South Korean politics newsletter, but here only for shitposting. Subscribe to The Blue Roof: www.blueroofpolitics.com

Over on the other site, second gen Asian Ams are having days-long freakout about an ice cream flavor that's supposed to be Filipino and all I gotta say is, these people really gotta stop being so fucking weird.

Samsung Electronics' 2028 operating profit is projected to be significantly greater than the operating profit of the top 100 listed companies of Japan combined. Korea is richer than Japan. By a lot. Korea won the race and it's not close.

For an East Asia-focused person, it seems completely insane to me that any US ally would command this much attention from not just US govt, but US society writ large, such that if you're to be considered a well-informed person you're supposed to have a position on the ally's internal politics.

Perhaps Magyar's most important promise, and the one that certainly resonates with voters: "never again a country without consequences!" The crowd chants: "To prison! To prison!" [with the corrupt officials of the outgoing government]

Is it normal for the president of the United States to pathetically plead for the nations of the world to come bail him out of the disaster he created entirely on his own? Trump two weeks ago: woooooo!!! America!!! yeah!!! Trump today: hopefully China, France, Japan, others will be sending ships..

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com · 5mo ago

in a single sentence Trump claims Iran's military is "destroyed 100%" but also admits "it's easy for them to send a drone or two" 🙃

Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe. We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s Military capability, but it’s easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close range missile somewhere along, or in, this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are. Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send Ships to the area so that the Hormuz Strait will no longer be a threat by a Nation that has been totally decapitated. In the meantime, the United States will be bombing the hell out of the shoreline, and continually shooting Iranian Boats and Ships out of the water. One way or the other, we will soon get the Hormuz Strait OPEN, SAFE, and FREE! President DONALD J. TRUMP

During Trump I, S Korea got fucked up by China for deploying THAAD while the US stood pat oblivious. During Trump II, the THAAD got moved to the Middle East for a war that serves less than zero strategic purpose for US. Is it a surprise that more people are asking what the point of the alliance is?

Doubly this. US hegemony depends on the ability to underwrite the security of its allies. Job number one of this underwriting is to avoid insolvency. Israel is a bad debtor who should have been dropped long time ago. Failure to do so is pushing US closer to insolvency.

Still shaking my head over the dumbass Foreign Affairs article that suggests dropping S Korea as an ally because it may embroil US into an unnecessary war. WE ARE HAVING AN UNNECESSARY WAR RIGHT NOW BECAUSE OF A SUPPOSED ALLY WHO'S WORTHLESS YOU FUCKING MORON

Wars break out in the periphery. The center may get tense, but rarely break out into a war. The part of the world that is not involved on this war at all is the center of the world right now. In a roundabout way, we are truly entering the Asian century.

Here's the thing. I'm a big fan of organ meats, but American organ meats are fucking terrible because the cattle are not raised for organ meat consumption. I eat raw cow liver in Korea. I would never do it in the US.

RFK Jr. suggests Americans can more easily afford groceries if they start eating liver instead of beef: "Most of the cheap cuts of meat are very inexpensive. ... You can buy liver or the cheap cuts."
