Holy shit. Kody Clemens hit a walk-off grand slam with two outs in the ninth inning, down three runs, facing a left-handed pitcher the Royals brought in just to face him. I have no idea how, but the Twins won two of three vs. the Royals. They were two outs from getting swept.

Twins GM Jeremy Zoll talked trade deadline last night and was much more forthcoming than expected, leaving no doubt they plan to be buyers. Here's everything Zoll said, what he chose not to say also revealed, and my takeaways from the lengthy Q&A session: www.aarongleeman.com/twins-gm-jer...

Zoll said adding pitching, and specifically bullpen help, "will be a clear focus." But the status of catcher Ryan Jeffers, an impending free agent, is still up in the air.

Twins took care of business vs. a bad team, winning two out of three from the A's. They're off Monday, followed by a three-game series at Target Field vs. the last-place Royals. Twins are 53-54 and just one game from a playoff spot with six games left before the trade deadline.

I try to stay positive on main, but I don't know, man, asking for some level of "authenticity" in a depiction of a story with Cyclopes, a sorceress who transmutes sailors into pigs, singing sea witches, and gods turning a two week cruise into a 20 year voyage sounds absolutely dumb as fuck to me.

Twins are now 32-26 since I left The Athletic, the second-best record in the American League. That includes winning eight of the last nine series, and their first at Yankee Stadium since 2014. Twins were 16-23 before my resignation, the second-worst record in the AL. #analytics

That's 88 down, 74 to go, #MNTwins on pace to go 77-85. 4 1/2 out in the division, 2 1/2 in the Wild Card. It's 33 days till the Trade Deadline. G'night, and I'll skeet at you sometime soon. Enjoy your holiday, in case I'm actually able to stay off the socials for a while. Which would be nice.

Byron Buxton (hip) is back in the Twins' lineup for the first time since June 28, starting in center field and batting second vs. the Yankees. Buxton ended up missing four games while avoiding the injured list.

Fresh batch of Twins notes, including: - Byron Buxton's hip problems are back - Alan Roden is making his call-up case - Ryan Kreidler vs. Tristan Gray at short - Anthony Banda's season may be over - Bullpen mess is about to get messier www.aarongleeman.com/twins-notes-...

Twins notes: Byron Buxton banged up, Alan Roden ready, Ryan Kreidler vs. Tristan Gray

Plus, losing left-hander Anthony Banda to a months-long injury makes the Twins' bullpen mess even worse while also removing a trade deadline asset.
