I know I should comment on the reshuffle and our new Prime Minister, but the death of Kevin Keegan should rightly be remembered today. As a footballer he was one of the greatest our country has produced and as a manager, his brand of attacking play would stand the test of today. What a legend.

The anti-muslim, Islamophobic attacks in Edinburgh are truly shocking. It feels like this is happening far too often, just a few days ago the house of an Imam in Greater Manchester was a target for arson, whilst here in Cheadle a local family had a pigs head placed on their gate.

Earlier this week I joined researchers, advocates and parliamentarians at the @alzheimersresearchuk.org drop-in at Parliament, hosted by @freddievanmierlomp.bsky.social. As a Dementia Research Champion, dementia research is something I care deeply about. 💙

Today Ed Davey will call for a new deal that puts Britain back at the heart of Europe. Britain needs a new plan. For growth, for jobs, for defence.

Ten years on from the Brexit vote, one thing is clear: the experiment has failed. The Conservatives' botched deal is costing Britain £90 billion a year in lost tax revenue. Money that should be in our NHS, our schools, our communities.

We need to be targeting big tech, not children. Our plans for an age-rating system for social media would keep children safe online and incentivise big tech to make their platforms less harmful.

This is absolutely sickening. I’m so relieved that no one was hurt and that GMP are investigating. This hatred has no place in our society, and certainly has no place in Greater Manchester.

Last night I spoke in the Commons calling for urgent regulation of the infant sleep industry. Right now, anyone can call themselves a sleep consultant or maternity nurse with zero training, zero qualifications and zero accountability. 🧵

As a parent myself, I cannot imagine the pain Katie and John have carried since losing Gigi in 2022. Watching my own daughter, it is impossible not to think about the trust every family places in the people caring for their children.

A recent BBC investigation revealed that parents were being given advice that goes against safer sleep guidance by unregulated ‘sleep experts’. I have written to the Health Secretary alongside The Lullaby Trust, demanding urgent action and proper regulation that is fit for purpose.

A personal post. Very sadly, Lou and I recently lost our second baby, when Lou was 15 weeks pregnant. Lou went through a challenging labour at Stepping Hill hospital and needed a blood transfusion, but she is now home and recovering well.

News of a Gaza ceasefire brings hope after devastating months of violence. Hostages must come home, aid must get through, and this must be the first step towards lasting peace. The UK and our allies must do everything to ensure this holds.
