Our people deserve representatives who will put Western North Carolina first, not ignore us while they misbehave in D.C. My heart goes out to the young women who took roles with Congressman Edwards' office in the wake of his withdrawal from this race.
We see that our political system is broken, then keep behaving as if it worked. We need serious change, and it's time to take bigger swings.
Researching Baltimore’s success in preventing violent crime with @localprogressnetwork in July. Public safety has to be a community-led, multi-pronged approach, and cities can do this at scale if we have enough public pressure and votes to make funding a priority.
Save The Woods may not be entirely satisfied that ~50% of the South Campus parcel may be developed, but no 5K seat stadium is a major victory. Existing student housing blends nicely with the natural environment; so should new housing. Hopefully commercial retail will be at the edge & minimized.

This happy, beautiful young woman is my mother when she was just 18 or 19 years old. She passed away a couple months ago & I recently found this picture among her personal belongings. I've seen many other photos of her when she was young, but never this one previously.
This ad appeared in the Midwest edition of a Penny Saver last week. I assume it's a typo. Most people don't want to buy a used prostate because you don't really know how much mileage it has on it, whether the previous owner drove it hard or whether it's been involved in any rear-end collisions.

Just attended adult space academy at the US Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, AL. Love sci fi & learning about space. Cool experience. As a kid of the Space Age, I'm just disappointed knowing how hard it will be to ever go beyond even our nearest neighboring moon & planet. Maybe some day!
Michelle and I loved reading to this bright group of kids today! We hope this new Chicago Public Library branch at the Obama Presidential Center will be a place where folks come to read, check out books, and connect with one another for years to come.
Great to hear UNC Health is proposing a new 92 bed hospital in West Asheville to compete with HCA Mission Hospital. But strange to select the site of the current Westgate Shopping Center as the location. That's a relatively new shopping center. Maybe tenants can move to a redeveloped Kmart site?

1st time growing Zephyr squash ("bi-squashual"?). Harvested & prepared one with dinner last night. Nice texture & taste. Seems like they're going to be fairly productive. I've never had much success with crookneck yellow summer squash but last year's straightneck yellow ones were super productive.

If you Asheville locals find yourselves down by Home Depot/Fairview Rd & are hungry for something you can't get anywhere else in Asheville, you gotta stop at the Local Buggy Food Truck and get some Pollo a la Brasa (Peruvian rotisserie chicken). It is a thing unto itself! The chiles, spices, sauces!
It's definitely time to do away with the Electoral College. We're one of the few democracies that isn't a true representational democracy, at least in terms of electing our top government leader. Crazy if 1 candidate wins the popular vote but another, who won the Electoral College, becomes President
