ok this is kind of out of my wheelhouse science-wise but what exactly is it about nebulae and other deep space objects that causes us to perceive them as beautiful? we didn’t evolve looking at anything like them (clouds maybe?), so like… what’s up with that?

The cited FREE downloadable RPG for planet formation and development looks like an awesome explainer about what we know or suspect right now about how our planet earth came to be and life grabbed hold. I'll be printing this out to bring to DragonCon.

every day at work i have lunch at this empty sushi place. i order my 3 for $15 lunch special, i sit, and i listen to the angriest woman ive ever heard in my life scold the pair of old men (smiling, unphased) who make the sushi for 30 minutes. this is the platonic ideal of lunch in new york city.
physicist here. it’s a common myth that the anti-horse moves backwards in time, which would theoretically account for the appearance of all horses in the universe. what we’re actually witnessing here is the three-dimensional projection of the fundamentally symmetric four-dimensional horse.
TikTok has incredible moderation team. Our InfoWars video about Multiple Horse Theory — the idea that there are many horses in the world and not just one — has been fully deemed misinformation and lost the formal appeals process. Confirmed by Larry Ellison: There is only one horse on Earth.

ok i think i need to start a thread where i keep all these organized: the definitive Books I See People Reading on the Train 1. September 2025
wow! it’s already time for the fifth edition of Books I See People Reading On The Train 📚✨
scientists studying the 1 train have announced a breakthrough in quantum physics, citing the discovery of a new phase of matter. the phenomenon, known as “superwet” is observed at rush hour densities with humidity levels in excess of 80%. “it’s nasty as hell,” reported one noticeably damp physicist.
wow what a great industrial shot. unfortunately someone has chosen to place a package of wet wipes 12 feet above the ground for some reason.
