Hey #Booksky, Vow of Ashes just might be @ddalglish.com’s best work yet, an emotionally raw and deeply moving story about dignity in death and the nature of commitment. It’s remarkable how much of a punch it packs into so small a page count. Read it, and have some tissues handy. 100% recommended!

This has always been the case. “Go Woke, Get Broke” has always been clownish untruth. No movie has ever failed because of Black folks, POC, LQBTQ+, or women. There are a myriad of other reasons why some movies fail to connect. But bigoted chuds don’t have that kind of power.
HELLO AUTHORS. The Deadlands will open to short story submissions (up to 5,000 words) for the entire month of October. but wait there's MORE For the first time everrr we are opening to NOVELETTE SUBMISSIONS (1/3)

It's very hard not to love @doctorow.pluralistic.net when he gets stuck into something. This video really lays out the AI bubble clearly!
He could’ve just opened a museum in his retirement and enjoyed the “the newest Star Wars is always the worst Star Wars” nostalgia boost to the Prequels. But George, if you aren’t making art anymore, don’t spend your twilight years making life harder for those who are.

Writing books is hard. Writing my most recent book was HARD hard. For more on my process, the way the story grew and changed, and the lessons I had to ignore, here's a (fairly) brief write-up. (Also Knight of the Chalice is out, and you should totally get a copy, guys!) #Booksky #author
Writing KNIGHT OF THE CHALICE
It’s a cliché to say writing a novel is a labor of love, but it’s true. Both parts. I would only write 100,000+ words of a story if I were truly invested in it, but it’s still ver…

@chucktingle.bsky.social’s newest book, Fabulous Bodies, hits stores next week, but I got my hands on it early, and I can tell you it’s another home run. Take Collateral, replace Tom Cruise with a zombie Elton John-alike, and you’ve scratched the surface of this novel’s delights. Pick it up #Booksky
1 WEEK UNTIL RELEASE DAY!
Hey #Booksky, here's a quick preview of Knight of the Chalice a story of knights, delusion, monsters, and second chances, out 7/7: "All my life, I believed in heroes. "Men whose nobility wasn’t given by birth, who stood up to injustice, protected the innocent, and accomplished great deeds. 1/3
I was kinda bowled over by @lexcroucher.bsky.social’s The Unmagical Life of Briar Jones, a queer slice of dark academia that avoids reiterating other magic school stories with its exploration of class, consent, and trauma. It’s a heady brew, and damn near impossible to put down. Recommended #Booksky

Altogether now: AND WHAT’S THE BAD NEWS?
First draft, no. I just trust that smarter people than me will read that draft and tell me what I need to fix. By the third draft or so, however, I start getting a decent sense of “hey, this is beginning to feel like it won’t totally embarrass me if strangers read it!”
Writers! I’m curious - when you are writing, do you have a sense of how good or otherwise the work is? Can you tell if a particular book/story/poem is better or worse than any other piece you have produced?
