Contemplating Uluṛu definitely puts things in perspective. Especially knowing there's more of it below the ground than above. Barring a direct meteorite strike or similar, it's going to still be here even when it floods with sea level rise or frizzles with climate change.

Interesting - two thoughts- sample bias, age. A lot of the time when I talk with other full professors from the USA I'm surprised how conservative they can be. Is this the US culture or the system they came through open science is not negotiable in my team and teams I belong to

One of my pet hates is fishers who leave lures and like that entangles wildlife - like this Black Swan from tbis morning. This poor thing had its bill stuck shut with a fishing lure. Luckily I had a friend to hold the bird strady while I freed it - hopefully no major harm done. Pick up your gear!

Wolves hate coyotes and if left undisturbed will kill off roughly 50 to 90% of them in their territorial areas. Coyotes are responsible for about 60% of all livestock losses due to wildlife predation, wolves are responsible for about 1/4 of 1% Do the math. Your better off with the wolves.

Not every photo of a wolf is a pulitzer prize winer, most are like this one which shows a wolf spec crossing the prairies at a distance of maybe 1/2 mile.

Researchers discovered that the difference between 'pa' and 'ba' is just timing - how long between lip opening and vocal fold vibration. VOT became crucial for understanding speech perception categories. ⏱️ Lisker & Abramson (1964) classic study #SpeechScience #Phonetics
