Since April, I have exclusively charged my ebike and lawn tool batteries with a single portable 100w solar panel hooked into a 1kw backup battery. I only put it out on nice sunny days and it has been enough to entirely power my yard maint and a significant % of my transportation for months.

When Bob Hope heard about Cameron, he invited him to the set of his film Son of Paleface. Hope said "He is the world's number one hotel clerk. Anyone who can spot a real bum like that deserves some kind of recognition." 📸 Reddit (SeltzerIsMyHomeboy) 🧵 6/7

Apparently, Levi's heard about this and sent Crosby a specially-made all denim tuxedo with a red corsage. A patch on the jacket said: "Notice To All Hotel Men". Levi's called it the Canadian Tuxedo. 📸 Levi Strauss & Co. 🧵 4/7

On this day in 1944, the Gestapo found Anne Frank and her family in their Secret Annex. Her diary stands as a warning against hatred and persecution. Eighty years later, we should recognize the warning signs before it’s too late.🙂‍↕️

RFK Jr's CDC reportedly scaled back foodborne disease tracking last year, removing cyclospora from mandatory reporting. The CDC also lost roughly 3,000 employees since 2025. Now a cyclosporiasis outbreak has killed 2 and sickened thousands across 45 states. "Make America Healthy Again."

Had my first rides on #LimeBikes in Birmingham today, a spontaneous decision over walking from New Street to Edgbaston Stadium. A good experience; motor makes it easy and the A38 cycleway was mostly delightful (connecting in to Priory Road needs work). But there's one thing I don't like... [1/2]

the 20p per minute charge. I can see why riders might get a bad reputation amongst the anti-cycling lot; while I don't condone it, there's an incentive for people to not stop at lights, to cut across pavements, to ride too fast etc. Charging should be on distance, not duration. [2/2]

My e-bike tops out at 20mph. Acoustic bikes go faster than me regularly. The number of pedestrians I've almost hit is nonzero but low, largely from them not paying attention to the signals. The pedestrians who have tried to hit me by thrusting an arm or a leg into my way and laugh is in the dozens.

You can’t hear a bicycle coming at you and at 25 mph, there is enough force there to kill you. Both vehicles and bikes are hazardous to pedestrians. I support bikes but they need to operate within traffic laws as everyone else has to.
