Joshua Eaton@joshuaeaton.bsky.social · 5d agoThe contract that provides legal services to these immigrant children in federal custody expires today — both nationwide and here in Connecticut. The Acacia Center for Justice, which holds that contract, told me yesterday they have not seen a plan to replace it.

Rob Saucedo@robsaucedo.bsky.social · 2d agoJuly 2026 was the most successful month the River Oaks Theatre has experienced since reopening in October 2024. That's impressive in its own right, but July 2026 was a 40 percent growth over the July 2019 box office for the River Oaks Theatre.
I've done so much elections work in Texas over the years, but I finally concluded that it wasn't going to be my little phone banks that swung things (great respect to those still doing this) but rather a swing of public sentiment so large that my relatively modest contributions aren't even needed.

Because to me, going out to laugh and talk with friends is the opposite of whatever math is, and having to do that at the end kills the vibe or at least dampens it a little, phone calculators notwithstanding.
