An interesting tidbit of experimental archaeology that they are doing at the site is that during the early 13th century glass windows weren't that widespread, and quite expensive. So their solution, based on iconographic documents, is to use linen canvases, painted with local pigments and waxed!

A chapel window at the Guedelon Castle project. Instead of stained glass they are using linen canvases, painted with pigments from the site, waxed, and then stretched over wooden frames.

Fun fact: a medieval castle is being built right now! Guédelon Castle (near Treigny, France) is an experimental archaeology project that began in 1997 aiming to build a 13th century castle from scratch, using only period techniques. It's still ongoing, and everything is made on-site, even the bread!

Here's the deal on preorders: Booksellers have a lot of different books. So they use preorders as a metric to determine demand. They then make their order based on that determined demand. Every 1 preorder is worth 10 additional copies sold down the road. Maybe more. Please preorder.

Apologies in advance, but I can't afford to feel bad about it. It is time for the big push for my book KAIBYO THE SUPERNATURAL CATS OF JAPAN. Preorders this month will make or break not only the success of the book, but my future books with the publisher. Please buy link.amazon/B0d6PY7Gv

Looks like applying as an American isn’t really feasible, but I recently wrapped up a freelance contract with Fallen London and it’s an awesome world with cool mechanics, and everyone I worked with was very cool. So if you’re in Europe def give it a look

Night. The House of Chimes - a tower which you might immediately think of as Big Ben - is adrift in the River Thames. It still seems to be keeping time. In the background, a large, alien building looms over the city of London.
