The head of the 300+ accounting group I work for has a Master's degree in Opera. People with all sorts of degrees end up working not in their field of study. This is just another example of the rich and wealthy, who run this country, are out of touch with the actual realities of life.

I'm a full Professor of Immunology and fully vaccinated. I didn't get vaccinated out of obedience, but after decades of studying the immune system and evaluating all evidence. Calling that "lack of critical thinking" is not an argument. It's ideology masked as pretend intellect.

The State Department said ​it takes "full responsibility" for "hastily" altering and then presenting a map of Africa at a global AIDS conference that mislabeled every single country it highlighted. An analysis by Reuters found a watermark in the map image that suggests it was made with OpenAI.

I'm just so fed up with this. trans people -- *like everyone else* -- are just out there trying to live their lives. and yet now a whole concern trolling politics has sprung up about safe bathrooms, safe sports... there is nothing at play here other than bigotry. sorry. that's it.

I have one shelf of "special" books (first editions, OOP non-fiction, and books I read at a certain point in life that meant "something"), everything else is not organized in any way but somehow I know where everything is located. Also, a pile of 4 towers of current reading next to the bed.

SCANDINAVIANS No people on earth, probably excel the Scandinavians, and scarcely any equal them, unless it may be the Swiss mountaineers, in attachment to their native country. The Scandinavian emigrant brings with him to this country, not only his love of home, but his attachments to customs and habits of his old home. So strong is this passion that it is hard for him to assimilate to the customs of his new home, and to conform to the ideas of American citizenship, but he remains in his adopted land, a foreigner, in all that pertains to his modes, manners, habits, likes and dislikes.This peculiar habit of our Scandinavian fellow citizens, and this strong, over-mastering attachment to their native land, has not been generally known and appreciated by our own citizens, "to the manor born." It will take several generations to wear away this foster land attachment, and to assimilate the Scandinavian emigrant, and absorb him into the language, habits, customs and true idea of a homogeneous American citizenship.

There's a lot of things I won't get over from the past decade, but people's willingness to try to memory hole the extremely deadly pandemic we all lived through and killed actual people, on their watch and partly because of their idiocy, is high on that list.
