Painting created by Anthony Dare c.1964 in the art therapy studio at Netherne hospital in Surrey, where he was compelled to live. No biographical information is currently known to us about him, this is one of his four surviving works & the subject is art therapist Edward Adamson &

A dramatic downbeat painting, in style somewhere between cubism and fauvism, of a balding white man in smart suit with bow tie, head and shoulders only, looking left, with a rather worried expression. The painting is made of large blocks of blue yellow and purple, there are almost organic shapes building up the head and shoulders, clad in their blue suit white shirt and purple tie, which have a sculptural quality. The background is an acidic lemon yellow with blue and green stripes
