Wall Street traders can now pay for early access to Trump's Truth Social posts. The President regularly uses his platform to announce policy decisions that impact the market. A corporate CEO would get jail time for this. Trump's getting a pay bump.

"[W]e find strong selective effects associated with higher institutional prestige, larger team size, and certain topics and countries. Corresponding authors who are men exhibit a small but significant advantage at Science, while authors based in China have a significant disadvantage."

Kudos to @science.org for this self-analysis of the peer review process. These kind of data are never shared and don't have to be. Wildly refreshing to see it out in the open. Editorial and peer review dynamics at elite general science journals | Science Advances www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Behold, the sin of alcohol! "The development of new theories about the action of alcohol on the body and mind appears to have been influenced by the now-discredited eighteenth- and nineteenth-century idea that the phenomenon of human combustion, spontaneous or not, was linked to spirit drinking."

"'Whether the [embedding] actually corresponds to a single word or not' — much less a faithful reasoning process — 'is beside the point,' Kambhampati said." I really don't get how this can be so difficult: these systems lack *understanding*. They don't know what the hell they are doing.

We put watermark in money - to make sure we do not lose our trust in the monetary system. So yea, why not do this to online content too - to make sure we don't lose our trust in each other. However, I wonder how this will be monitored/enforced. AI-counterfeits are very difficult to tell apart.

"This is not just a problem for survey research. Any online community or platform that assumes a human is completing a task now has to rethink how that assumption can actually be verified." We'll soon drown in AI-crap, leading us to lose trust in everything online. The question: what happens then?
