If we could say one thing to Andy Burnham, it would be this… 🟠You must build trust in our social security system.🟠 To truly support us all to live independently, we need to trust that the system will be there for us when we need it... 🧵1/3

Last month, MPs stepped into our Jobcentre experience. They agreed Jobcentres should lead with trust, not suspicion, to support people into work. As a new Prime Minister takes office, we will keep calling for dignity & respect in our social security system. Watch more: https://youtu.be/BkRGe70cQuE

Our Jobcentre experience event in Parliament

In June, we went to Parliament to show MPs what an accurate job centre is like, so they could experience it first hand.

Excellent to see the All Party Parliamentary Group on Poverty and Inequality report launched yesterday, highlighting evidence from our stigma research and conversations with young people. The report rightly sets out that: Read below - 🧵1/5

The Timms Review interim report shows that over 90% of the evidence they received describes negative PIP experiences. Many disabled people find PIP unfair and inconsistent. And that means people don’t trust that it will be there for them when they need it. www.turn2us.org.uk/about-us/new... 1/2 ⬇️

Pale Blue background with a bold heading "The Timms Review so far". This is then followed by lighter font text "90% of the evidence submitted shows people are having bad experiences when claiming PIP. But the Government have an opportunity to change that."
There is then a dark blue box with a subheading and three bullet points "Final recommendations must focus on: 1. Adequate financial support. 2. Fair and accurate assessments. 3. Training assessort to better understand disabilities and illnesses".
This post is then ended with a single line of light font text "Read more on our website.".

We brought the Jobcentre to Parliament. MPs stepped into experiences produced and delivered with people with lived experience. They saw the reality people face every day and what’s possible when Jobcentres lead with trust, not suspicion. Together, we can stop the stigma and fix the system.

Today we brought the Jobcentre into Parliament. MPs went through an actor-led experience of the system as it is now, and as it could be, then heard directly from the people who’ve lived it. A Jobcentre built on dignity, not suspicion, is possible. #StopTheStigma #FixTheSystem

Tuesday 23rd, tomorrow, we take our Jobcentre experience to parliament for MPs. But why? 🟠To bring people’s experiences of the Jobcentre to life for MPs 🟠To encourage MPs to take action to build trust in the Jobcentre 🟠To support MPs to talk positively about the role of the Jobcentre

Just 2 days until we take our jobcentre experience to parliament. "A positive experience at the Jobcentre left me feeling empowered and confident in my abilities...” Thanks to our Co-Production Partners like Julie, we have been able to create a realistic Jobcentre event based on their experiences.

Only 3 days until our Jobcentre experience in Parliament. So, this is your last chance to invite your MP. Make sure your MP represents you by attending our Jobcentre experience, where actors will show how a jobcentre should lead with dignity and respect. 🔗https://sbrew.link/QWycSWes
