MMMMMMMMMMMM… Microgramma is a squarish sans conceived to remain legible at very small sizes – hence the name. It was drawn by Alessandro Butti (1893–1959), director of Nebiolo’s Studio Artistico, and first cast in 1952, in five all-caps styles.

Detail from a 1952 specimen for the typeface Microgramma, showing its letter M in all five styles, in 11–12 sizes each.
