Native plant discourse: even with a yard-to-natives conversion it's shocking how many bug visitors are introduced. Goes way beyond honeybees to hoverflies, wasps, ground beetles, moths, lady beetles, jumping spiders, earwigs, spittlebugs, bush crickets...about 15% of species observed & IDed.

Glad to see a big team tackle forest carbon monitoring with the many remote sensing products out there. A few years ago I went down this rabbit-hole to see why I couldn't get a straight answer for what was happening to State Forests carbon.

This is pretty amazing & like...a little funny. A NY cemetery contains literally millions of native, ground-nesting, solitary bees in the genus Andrena. They love the sandy soils & limited ground disturbance. No word on how they enjoy the dead neighbors for the 10 MONTHS they spend underground. #虫🧪
