sovereign citizen basketball player: “I’m not traveling. I’m driving”
This is meant in the best way. This is absolutely so reminiscent of the direct interfaces and vision of programmable uis from the late 90s, even down to the aesthetic. Really wonderful to see these ideas modernised.

Ok Bluesky it's rare I ask for help. But this time I need huge help from the #osint community and #speirgorm #speirghorm, and everyone who follows me. I have a goal to raise up to €100,000 for a long time friend and colleague who is going to leave us.
Jev is a dealer in harsh judgments.
Not the outcome I'd hoped for, but at least now I know.
Jev is really clever. Looking back at the days of attaching sequence classification heads to Bert and upgrading that product in a very smart way. I bet there are other classes of use case that need that kind of mechanism.
“The fraction of desk rejected papers at TMLR used to be about 6% in 2023 but is now at about 53%.”
Nihar Shah did a heroic experiment for TMLR: he spent 20-25 hours over two weeks interviewing authors of seemingly low-quality submissions about their own papers. He confirmed what we all suspected: people submitting these papers have *no idea* what is going on in them.

If we really want to honor Tim Curry's memory, then we have to publish like 8 different obituaries, each with a different and entirely plausible cause of death.

We're thrilled to present the shortlist for the 2026 Ursula K. Le Guin Prize for Fiction:
I had the immense pleasure to be a reviewer for colm again this year and fully endorse what’s below. It’s a gem of a conference.
It’s a small, biased sample, but my AC batch for @colmweb.org was miles better than the papers i reviewed for NeurIPS: more creative, more rigorous, better written. Maybe AI research isn’t doomed to 2-3 omni-conferences after all?
Interested to note this “humanizer” for grant proposals. github.com/AIScientists... My feeling is that a lot of the more “bot-like” forms are hallmarks of traditional human academic writing.

Group chats on bsky are just another source of FOMO for me, I suspect.

I am, in fact, an Erlang fanboy at heart and would bet money I spend my retirement either finding out if this claim is true, or trying to make it true
