"I've about come to the conclusion there is no use for me to want [to] do anything very much as something always happens. It ALWAYS does when there is something I particularly want to do!" - Mrs. George Trine [Lida Forst Trine] in a letter to Myron H. Swenk, May 15, 1932 #mood #quotes #archives

I intended to attend the meeting at Hastings but the death of my brother-in-law upset my plans. I've about come to the conclusion there is no use for me to want [to] do anything very much as something always happens. It always does when there is something I particularly want to do!

We herd that it’s Cow Appreciation Day... So we thought we'd share this delightful recipe book containing cures for cows from Ascott dated 1778-1813 Not sure how much the cows would have appreciated the Mercurial Ointment however, despite the inclusion of brandy...

The front page of the recipe book with the title 'A book of Valueable Receipt for Cows May 1778, R.Parrott, Astcott, Feb 8 1813'.Two inside pages of the recipe book containing descriptions of remedies and their ingredients for treating illnesses and diseases in cows.A recipe for Mercurial Ointment containing brandy, marshmallow ointment, tobacco ointment and mercury sublimate.

This year, we tested recipes from 1950s Home Ec classes, including Pineapple Cookies from 1951 and Athens Nut Pie from 1955. They got positive reviews. The cookies were tasty (not enough pineapple), but no one understood why the pie was called a pie when it's actually a cake! #ArchiveFoodandDrink

Chebo Roitter Pavez interweaved 16 Holocaust survivors’ voices to chart the rise of Nazi ideology and the escalating persecution of Jewish communities across Europe. His layered writing-drawings foreground resilience and warn how fascism can re-emerge if unchallenged.
