Labour, Fabian, European, architecture/design/engineering/clean energy, sustainability, don't burn stuff! Richmond Yorkshire. Dispise Nige, Kemi, and especially Zack

It’s also a real rebuke to von der Leyen and the Commission for their totally spineless (and, quite possibly, politically inspired) response to Meloni’s original decision. VdL will now have to find a solution to this. So Sánchez has skewered her too.

Spain suspending Schengen for travellers coming from Italy is a political disaster for Meloni. She indulged in performative populism after Ceuta for entirely domestic reasons. Her bluff has now been called and she’s got absolutely nowhere to go. Pedro Sánchez has humiliated her. Good!

ECHR withdrawal means blowing up shaky relationships with the EU and Ireland. We have to assume her net zero policy will undermine decarbonisation and electrification. The Conservatives want mass deportation of 150,000 people a year.

Ok that's a whole other thing that you have widened your position into. We were specifically talking about you saying we shouldn't call racist rioters racists in case non-rioters become racist. ("Legitimate concerns" + "protestors" references RW political language used about 2024 racists rioting)

You Gov poll 5-6 August 2024

From what you have seen and heard, which of the following do you think are appropriate descriptions of those carrying out the unrest at recent protests? (Please select as many as you feel apply).%

Half of Reform voters feel rioters have legitimate concerns, while Labour and Lib Dems overwhelmingly view them as far-right and racist

2024 Reform
Racist 22
Far-right 20
Protestors 36
People with legitimate concerns 49

Demonstrating how the Greens are happy to drop their original mission just so they can pick up populist votes, it's happening near where I live with their opposition to the Hope Moore Wind Farm, seems they see Facebookers moaning about something and jump straight in, saying,... count us in too!

Absolute joke for a Green Party to oppose solar panels. But very much in keeping with why the UK and whole of Europe are failing on energy policy. Other priorities... www.ft.com/content/6fe7...

It’s disgusting for the Conservatives to ask Jewish groups to meet their ex-neo-Nazi candidate, presumably in the hope he will charm them and they’ll offer their blessing. They should not expect Jewish people to sanitise this appalling choice. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Tories offer Jewish groups meeting with ex neo-Nazi activist candidate

Joshua Bonehill-Paine was jailed over neo-Nazi activism, but has been selected to stand in a new Somerset Council seat in 2027.

Andy Burnham correctly points out in an interview that small boat crossings are massively down this year compared with last. The comments in the post are filled with people suggesting he is lying about this very clear, data-evidenced fact. It’s almost as though they don’t want it to he true…

Among the very many dim takes around the Ceuta incident... the very, very dumbest must be the assumption in Reform circles that all those people were somehow trying to make it to Britain. How exceptionalist and indeed exceptionally stupid can you get?
