I have a Punjabi name, I'm not named after food. I do UXey things for my day job. Otherwise I'm a home cook, TV watcher, podcast listener, and a slow knitter. Child-free cat lady. Jaded optimist. Philadelphia. she/her

We are happy to announce that IAC27 is returning to Philadelphia April 14th - 17th, 2027, where we’ll be hosted by Arch Street Meeting House again! (Don’t worry, their AC is installed now 🙌) Your new chairs, Jaimie Yakaboski, Lisa Ellis, and Sara Mooney are hard at work planning out IAC27!

IA Conference Save the Date April 14 to 17 in Philadelphia, PA

At my dentist appointment this morning, I'm trying to figure out a seemingly broken elevator, the woman at the front desk asks, "you looking for immigration." 1. Oh! There's anything immigration related in this medical building? But also, 2. Validation for why I carry my passport these days.

My hummingbird bird buddy is a piece of junk and their customer service is all chatbot and you cannot find a human.

A test I will fail: can I not touch my phone/avoid all spoilers till after I get home in two hours and watch game highlights?

Disinformation about immigration and immigrants in the US is rampant. Those opposed to building a diverse and multicultural society will have you believe all kinds of terrible things about our fellow humans. They take advantage of the ambiguity of the immigration system to perpetuate their message.

The hardest part of a summer morning is when it's time to stop watching for hummingbirds and go inside to stare at the computer for 8 hours.

I got COVID for the first time this week. Grateful it's very mild. Grateful for mRNA. Grateful that my sweet caretaker hasn't come down with it (yet).

Anyone know about any south asian diaspora retirement communities (leaning progressive minded a plus) in/around the triangle (NC). Please repost for reach. Thank you.

hey, this is a fairly nerdy news item, but you should absolutely know about it. (looks like there are links in other posts in the thread.) the Post Office is really contemplating not delivering ballots unless states expose their voters' data to DOJ. I hate saying read that again but, read it again

The USPS’s proposed rule—which among other things will force it to *refuse to deliver ballots* for states that don’t fork over their voter rolls to the White House—drew opposition from congressional Democrats, the NAACP, and its own union.
