@zekehausfather.com has replied as below - short answer it’s complicated - but this is a great time for me to put in a plug that Climate Action Merri-Bek is planning a forum on Affordable Renewable Energy for All in August (potential dates 19th or 20th) - stay tuned for more info!

I’ve asked @zekehausfather.com about this but haven’t yet had a reply - in meantime think it’s worth noting, to prevent potential misinformation, that he hasn’t specified whether he is taking into account that over half the Aust population is also getting some free electricity every day

There are some more technical quibbles: capacity shouldn't be compared with generation (e.g. 1 GW of solar is not the same as one GW of nuclear, its only 20-25% of the actual generation). Australia has done many things right but still has higher electricity prices on average than the US.

I think in Victoria (Australia) we were in a situation like this about 20 years ago. Many homes didn’t have AC and people were concerned that putting AC into all homes would lead to more energy use, more FF use, more emissions, worse climate change. That has now changed. Why?

I keep thinking about the fact that someone I play tennis with here in Melbourne said she wouldn’t go to Europe in summer because it’s too hot. Yes Melbourne has quite a mild climate and there are many cities in Europe that actually have hotter summers than we do - on average. But it is also true

I can’t believe it but now I’m starting to feel sorry for Starmer. I mean yes he definitely should go and he’s made a complete hash of things but I still feel a bit sorry for him. On the other hand I hope Albo learns a lesson - you defeat the right by opposing them not copying them

Reaching for a select group i know but if you happen to live in the municipality of Merri-Bek in Melbourne, it would be great if you could sign this petition - or pass it on to anyone you know who does live here #AusPol This cause is close to my heart - please sign:

In my immediate family of 13 - myself, ex-partner, 3 kids, 3 partners, 5 grandkids - there’s only 4 who had two parents born here (not including me). Guess in Pauline’s Australia only those 4 will be allowed to stay. Byeee

My mum was born overseas. What are you gonna do - deport me? All of my grandkids have one parent born overseas. At least we can all be deported together. Pity about my kids who were born here with two parents born here - they’ll have stay behind I guess. Ludicrous nonsense

One Nation’s position on #ClimateChange is so weak and confused but it doesn’t seem like anyone asked Pauline about it today. Victoria - the most fire-prone state in Australia - had its hottest day on record this year but it seems like no-one asked her about it.

Didn’t catch the whole Pauline Hanson speech but I really do wish someone had said to her ‘I know you don’t believe in global warming but nevertheless in Victoria this summer we had our hottest day in 125 years, so what’s your response to that?’
