Last week I lost my job. It took me a while to process... If you or your company needs an experienced full stack developer who understands how the web works, knows modern tech, communicates well, please reach out. My CV: pawelgrzybek.com/cv/ I'd appreciate if you could share. Thank you.

My employer, has been really pushing AI. The other day a dev told someone that the functionality they requested was “impossible” because copilot said so. It was not a complicated request and is in fact quite possible, some (me) would even argue it’s a pretty simple request. 🤦‍♂️

Up bright (quite dark, actually) and early to go get our Christmas tree. Competition for the big trees here is fierce so we need to get to the tree farm early. Feels like 11° F, so that’s fun 🥶

Today I’m thankful for time away from work to spend with my family. 2025 has been a long, difficult year both at work and in general. I took the entire week off and it’s been a really nice break so far. Time to do some cooking and then eat too much. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! 🦃 🥧

I made the switch to @kagi.com for search. I couldn’t take the ads and AI slop responses anymore. Now I just need to break the habit of scrolling past the top results… they’re actually real, relevant results now 😅

I checked out so hard for the past few weeks, I’m pretty sure I’ve forgotten how to do my job. It’ll come back to me at some point this week, probably🤞

Our daughter really wanted to be up at midnight so we are anxiously awaiting midnight so we can go to sleep. It’s way past my bedtime 🥱😴. Happy new year!

All the talk about y2k takes me back to NYE 1999 when I spent the night at the national guard armory waiting to be deployed if bad things started happening. I’m glad I was bored that night because all the major issues had been addressed in time.

I just cannot articulate the amount of non-work that happens in corporate tech. So many words being said in meetings, so many documents and write-ups and meetings and messages—and barely ANYTHING gets *communicated*. It’s a sea of performativity, where treading water is confused for swimming.
