I typically find posts like this either *much* too optimistic about how the workplace functions or they do that thing where people tend to overvalue their own contributions to their success (which is probably just a specialization of the former). This one is definitely well calibrated IMO

I would like to see more companies admit this - being a public company no longer means running a successful, thriving business. It strictly means delivering growth to investors, every single quarter, who do not care at all about the product the company sells or the people who produce it.

Some things get worse because people are incentivized to make them worse. Search aggregates searchers, which businesses need so they can find potential customers, so they're incentivized to game search results. The aggregator wants the best results, not the most-gamed, so it's a natural arms race.

This is not going away, sorry to say. One of my friends has already questioned if he’s an originalist post-Barbara because “letting historical accident determine the answer to this deeply profoundly moral normatively significant question” is “a weird way to do law.” I do not jest.

The value system of the greater manosphere is not just anti-female, it's anti-human. Success is defined by physical perfection, wealth, and dominance--but it's not in pursuit of goals these straight guys actually want like love or sex with women, it's just to impress other vacuous men.

I guess what I'm saying is we've entered a point in conservative mind rot which all the clear evidence of the truth--children inheriting, oaths of office administered, successors assuming vacated positions--can exist right next to claims that contradict it--he's alive! Doublethink in full swing.
