Bay Area! Come join us tonight for a conversation about trails. Dillon Osleger has written a beautiful book, Trail Work, that took me back to my formative years in the outdoors and a kind of love for being outside that can be so hard to describe. But he's done it.
What hidden threats are putting California’s public lands at risk? 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙡 𝙒𝙤𝙧𝙠 author Dillon Osleger joins Victoria Schlesinger at Clio's on May 28 to explore the quiet disappearance of America’s trail systems—and what it means for public land defense. 🎟️ RSVP:

Fun beaver/fish interaction: When I approached this pond, I startled brown trout preparing to spawn below it (beavs filter sediment & keep downstream substrate clean). The fish dashed to the dam & hid in its base. Beavers created perfect spawning grounds: pristine gravel adjacent to dense cover! 🤯🦫🐟

If I were ever elected president, the first thing I’d do is take a sledgehammer to that ballroom.
Trump has no right to destroy any part of the White House. He doesn't own it. It is THE PEOPLE'S HOUSE. He is only a temporary tenant whether he wants to believe it or not. Why did they allow this destruction. The Rose Garden has already been turned in to an outdoor speakeasy.

I research and write Bay Nature magazine's quarterly nature almanac and Jane Kim illustrates it. Seeing those hours of exploration and research turn into these drawings from a classroom of kiddos in Alameda, broke me in the best kind of way.

A year ago we spied the first Western fence lizard in our backyard. It was so tiny, and mainly camped out in a slim crevice between two old steps. We've seen it a dozen times over the year, and then nothing for about two months. But here today: full-grown and thankfully hard to see!
